We Learn. We Collaborate. We Celebrate.
A Note from Miss Fisher
Last week's weather was quite interesting! Hope you were all able to stay safe and warm, but also enjoy a few snow making memories. Growing up in the midwest, actual snow days were few and far between, unless there were significant winds. Those winds could cause extremely tall snow drifts across a field and a low road...perfect for snow tunnels! Sometimes I think we spent more time getting dressed to go outside than we could actually stand being outside! Despite the age, there is something still magical about a snow day. I hope you were able to cherish some time together when the weather forced us to slow down for a bit. Well wishes and thanks to any Panda Family members that were among those working to clear the roads and keep our power turned on!! We are all grateful!

**Wednesday, December 19th, 2018, will now be a full school day instead of the previously scheduled early release day. While our schools still remain on track to exceed the 1,025 hours of instruction required by law, this change will allow us to recover and “bank” a small bit of calendar flexibility during the winter months ahead. As always, if you have questions, please contact your student’s school. Thank you for your continued support and flexibility.**

AIG Screening Window
The AIG screening window is now open and ends on January 11. Any teacher parent, or guardian may refer a child for AIG services. Most AIG students are identified in third grade. However, it is possible to identify younger students who are performing two or more grade levels above their peers. We do not screen students in second grade because testing them in that year invalidates the testing that all students do in third grade. Please read the information linked below and contact Ms. Jacob, our gifted education specialist, for more details about the screening process and criteria.

All students who submit a book for Young Authors will be recognized during school wide celebrations in the spring. A small number of student books will be selected to be recognized at a district wide celebration at Fearrington Village scheduled for Tuesday, April 9th, 2019 at 5:30pm.
