News and Happenings of the Brea Olinda HS Music Program
Wildcats start their season strong!
We couldn't have asked for a more solid start to the season in our new division. The students and staff are more focused than ever before, and we are looking forward to pressing on as we march our way towards Finals in November!
Continued Growth and Success at West Valley Tournament
At this particular tournament the Wildcats improved their score to a 72.8, placing 2nd in their division, and once again earning the high percussion award for our division! This was a very successful show for our group! We had a much better performance than our previous outing, and the students exhibited a greater sense of confidence! While not directly competing with these particular schools, we would also outscore most of the bands in several higher divisions.
We hope to continue to build upon this success when we compete at the OC Invitational Field Tournament on October 28th!

Online Wildcat Entertainment Corps Store Now Open!
Families will be able to purchase merchandise from within the Charms system, but we will also be able to setup an external link that you can send to friends and other band supporters so they, too, can get their band gear!
We have already had a couple of people use our store, but we are hoping that many more will begin to head to our store and buy their BOHS Band gear!

Your Help is Needed!
Our program has experienced great success over the last several years. Our groups have grown in both size and quality. Part of this is because of the dedicated instruction that our students receive from our knowledgable staff. However, much of our success is achieved behind the scenes.
The Wildcat Entertainment Corps has a very dedicated group of parents and family members who donate their time to our students. They take care of everything from fundraising, building props, transporting our equipment to all of our competitions, fitting our students with their band uniforms, running a snack shack at our home football games, and much, much more! It is safe to say that without this great support system that we have, much of what we have accomplished would not have been possible.
It is now a new year, many of our current band booster leaders have either graduated out of the program, or are now senior parents and will be leaving us at the end of this year. We cannot afford to have a lack of support from our band booster organization. Their role in the success of our students is crucial. That is why we are in need of our new families, and maybe some of our returning families who were a bit shy last year, to step up and get involved. It is time to start training to fill some of the positions that we so desperately need for our band to continue to thrive!
No one has to have experience to get started, and no one has to do anything alone. We want you to get involved earlier in the year so you can shadow someone, pitch in at some events, and just get your feet wet so you can see it's not as scary, or in some instances as time consuming, as you thought it would be. At the end of the day, the success of our program is directly correlated to the success of our booster group. That's why we need your help!
If you are even remotely interested in doing something for our program, big or small, please reach out to Mr. Bartell and he can point you in the right direction. You can even talk to our current band booster members/leaders and ask them any questions you might have. They are very friendly people and will make you feel safe and confident in any task.
We really do hope to see an increase in volunteerism this year, as without it, you will begin to see the decline of our amazing program. No one wants to see that happen, so please join our team!
Don't Forget, we are now on Instagram!!
In an effort to reach out into our community, both literally and technologically, the Instrumental Music and Color Guard program launched their own Instagram page last November.
If you are on Instagram search for Wildcat Entertainment Corps and please give us a follow! We will be sharing pictures from all of our various performance ensembles, accomplishments of our groups and students, as well as some lighthearted pictures from when we're just hanging out and having some fun.
If you have your own Instagram account and would like to tag us in your band pictures, please do! We are also asking our band families to use the hashtags #bousdmusic, #wearebousd, and #wildcatentertainmentcorps. This will help us to spread our virtual audience and establish a much broader and prevalent digital paw print in our community!

Help Support Our Program and Students!!
Our students work very hard to compete and be as successful as they can be. However, that does cost our group some money to accomplish. Our dedicated band boosters provide so much for our students to help them succeed, but they cannot raise it all on their own and we need your help by donating funds to our program. Most contributions are considered tax deductible, too!
Follow this link to donate to our program, enter the requested information into our secure credit card processing terminal, and print your receipt. For current band families, you can also contribute to our program through your Charms accounts.
We thank you for anything you can provide towards helping our students to have the type of program they have come to know and deserve!
