Our Little Free Library - Eagle Scout Project
The road to becoming an Eagle Scout is long and arduous. First the Scout must achieve the rank of Life Scout and, after holding that rank for at least 6 months, may begin the Eagle Scout journey. During that journey, the Scout must show how he had done duty to God, lived the Scout Oath and Scout Law in everyday life, and how it will guide the Scout’s life in the future. Only then may the Scout pursue a total of 21 merit badges, hold a rank of leadership within the troup, and then finally plan, develop, and give leadership to others in a service project helpful to any religious institution, school, or community. Jonathon Silkaitis, son of PARC co-president Sheryl Sejnost, has reached this point and, for his service project, he and his team have built and installed three Little Free Libraries for the following schools in Woodridge: Edgewood Elementary, John L. Sipley and Meadowview. Bravo to Jon for traveling this journey and bringing literacy to the students of Woodridge.
Learn With Dignity
Learn with Dignity Act (105 ILCS 5/10-20.60)
As of January 1, 2018, Illinois School Code requires public schools serving students in grades 6-12 to make feminine hygiene products available, at no cost to students, in the bathrooms of school buildings. To comply with this law, dispensers have been installed and stocked in girls’ restrooms in each of our Woodridge 68 schools.
The dispensers were placed in our girls' restrooms today. Sadly, girls removed them all prior to lunch time. Girls were placing them in various parts of our school, which is improper on a number of levels. Please talk to your daughters about this and explain the importance of not touching the dispensers, unless needed. We have receptacles on order, which will be placed inside each stall in the girls' restroom.

PARCC Testing
Parents, this may sound silly, but I strongly encourage you to take the PARCC practice test yourself or sit with your child as they take it. It will provide you with a glimpse into the tasks they are asked to do. Here is a link:
CogAT Testing 2018
The second grade CogAT is proctor-led by the teacher, which allows the test to be read to all second graders. The sixth graders who take the CogAT will have audio capabilities during the online testing.
This is not an assessment for which students need to study; however, teachers can provide a short practice session prior to the week of testing.
Additional CogAT assessments may be available for students in grades 3, 4, 5, and 7, who may be nominated to receive gifted services; nominations will be open on February 20 and will be due no later than March 7. These forms will be made available on the Woodridge 68 website on February 20. Here is a link to the gifted education website: https://www.woodridge68.org/Page/580
