4th Grade T-shirts Reorder Opportunity
Dear Fourth Grade Parents,
We hope your children are enjoying their 4th grade t-shirts! The idea behind giving these to the 4th grade students earlier this year was to build school spirit and excitement around being a 4th grader! This design was picked especially for them and is ONLYavailable for the 4th grade students. (Sorry parents and siblings, you will have to wait until you are a 4th grader to earn the right to wear this coveted tie-die!!)
A few of you have inquired about purchasing an additional shirt (whether to get a different size or just to have an extra) for your 4th grader. Each shirt is $11.00. The
sizes available are Youth S, M, & L and Adult S, M & L. Again these shirts are for 4th grade students only and can be worn when notified by the 4th grade teachers (Field Trips, Early Release Days, Cares
Assemblies, Field day, etc.). There probably isn’t a need for an extra but if you feel you would like to purchase an additional one please send in payment ($11.00) in an envelope marked 4th grade t-shirt with your child’s name, teacher, size choice and a contact phone number. There are minimum requirements with ordering so these shirts are not available on a
continuous basis. If interested please send in payment by Friday, January 15th. Shirts will be ordered for those who remit payment by the 15th. If you have any additional questions please feel free to email keriedmunds@gmail.com.
Thank you!

Spotlight on Learning: Grade 3 Teachers Win a Spark Grant from the RI Foundation
To compliment the new science units on Water and the Structures of Life and a district wide initiative to increase blended learning opportunities, the RIchmond Elementary School third grade team will be taking the 3rd grade students on a Frosty Drew Nature Center field trip to East Beach, Ninigret State Conservation Area for "Treasure Hunting on the Barrier Beach".
Students will investigate the components of the barrier beach landform. They will discuss how the barrier and the salt pond were created, the dynamics of the environment and the importance of the barrier to the salt pond. Using a 40 foot seine net, the Frosty Drew Nature Center Naturalist will gather specimens from Ninigret Pond. Students will discuss adaptation, predator/ prey relationships and survival strategies using the creatures caught in the net.
The students will record questions they have prior to attending the program and responses after participating in the field trip on Padlet which is an on-line bulletin board archive of their research and experiences from the visit.
