From the Desk of Mr. Ruedinger
As the temperatures begin to drop this week, it is another reminder that Winter is inching closer and closer. Please remind your children to dress appropriately each day with hats, mittens, and jackets when they come to school. Students continue to go outside for recess daily all year.
On Wednesday, the students at CCA participated in the National Walk to School Day. We had over 100 participants showing their school pride by carrying signs and wearing the school colors. Great Job!
Thank you to all the families who sold Faye’s Pizza! We earned a profit of $1,370.25 to help fund activities and field trip busing sponsored by the Home & School Committee. Our top seller was Cameron and Connor Spitz with 71 pizzas. The Spitz family will receive a gift card to use at Faye’s Pizza restaurant.
No School Friday, October 19.

Grade 8 Visited Kohler Company
The 8th grade class visited Kohler Company last week Wednesday, October 3. The tour focused on careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). The students learned about the great opportunities around STEM in high school as well as encouraging them to start thinking about the future and the careers available at Kohler Company.
Bullying Awareness Month
October is Bullying Awareness Month. This special month serves as a reminder that bullying prevention must be addressed. Again this year, I would like to have students take an active stance towards focusing on this important topic. Each week we will have a theme with a corresponding dress up days. My reasoning behind selecting a weekly theme is to have the students be more engaged in the topic. I hope you encourage your students to participate! Thank you, Mrs. Lampe, School Counselor

Early Release Due to Conferences
On Wednesday, October 17, there is early release at 12:30 pm with no pm busing, due to parent/student/teacher conferences.
Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences
Parent–teacher conferences are an important component of ongoing school-home communication and family involvement at Christ Child Academy. Our goal each year is 100% attendance of all families! Remember to visit the Book Fair located in the hallway outside the school office during your visit.
Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences will be held Wednesday, October 17 from 12:45 – 5:00 pm (early release at 12:30 pm with no pm bus), Thursday, October 18 from 3:30 – 5:00 pm and 5:30 – 7:00 pm, and Monday, October 22 from 3:30 – 5:00 pm.
The conference Sign-up Genius links will be emailed out this week. Students are strongly encouraged to attend with their parents and participate in their conference(s). We look forward to 100% attendance as we have in the past!
Scholastic Book Fair
The Scholastic Book Fair will be open to purchase books during conferences. We are looking for parents who would be willing to volunteer a ½ hour or more of their time on either side of their student’s conference time. Duties would include manning the table and completing purchases. Please use the following link to signup. CCA Book Fair Signup CCA earns credit from sales to purchase books for the library.
CCA Calendar Raffles
One of our main fundraisers each year is the Annual Calendar Raffle. The money raised help to keep our tuition rates as low as possible. The Calendar Raffle is a pocket calendar that features special events throughout the year at Christ Child Academy as well as some advertising. We will draw $30 winners every day of the school year. On special holidays that are listed, the cash payout is $200! The cost per Calendar is just $20.00.
As in past years, each family will receive 20 calendars to sell. This is the minimum number that we would like each family to sell. Our goal is to sell 2500 calendars for a net profit of about $40,000!!
All calendars must be sold and turned in by January 2nd, 2019 (First day back after Christmas break). State law prohibits us from selling calendars past the first drawing. We encourage you to turn the tickets in as they are sold; please do not hold on to them as we want to make sure that none get lost or forgotten.
Make sure to take the raffles with you to family get-togethers. The calendars also make great birthday or Christmas gifts for your friends and family.

2018 Annual Fund Appeal
This year, we have added a new feature for your convenience. We have partnered with GoFundMe to accept online donations for our Annual Fund Appeal.
Drop Off and Pick Up Procedures
Animals / Pets
During drop off and pick up, please leave your pets in the vehicle. Due to student allergies, fear of animals, and insurance liability, this creates an unsafe environment which can be avoided. Thank you for adhering to this school policy. This also applies to preschool pick up at 11:15 am.
Drop Off
When dropping off your students in the morning, there are two options. One is to drive up on the school-side of Henry Street and have your child exit the vehicle in a quick manner as to not cause a back-up of cars. The second option is to park in the church parking lot and walk your child into school. All preschool parents should be parking in the parking lot, not on the street. We would prefer parents do not park on the street and then walk your child across the traffic in the morning.Pick Up
After school, students in grades K-5 are dismissed through the church doors and are to wait for parents to walk them to their vehicles. These students are not to be walking through the parking lot without a parent or older sibling in middle school. Students in grades 6-8 are dismissed out the middle school doors and may be picked up on the school-side of Henry Street or they may walk down toward the church parking lot to secure a ride. We discourage parents from parking across Henry Street and having their child walk across traffic at this time of day. This creates an unsafe situation and places students in danger.
Safeguarding All God's Family
If parents or grandparents plan to participate in field trips, work in the lunchroom, coach, or help out at school, you must attend a Safeguarding All God’s Family training through the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. You must register on-line at www.archmil.org and indicate you are associated with Christ Child Academy. If you have not previously been trained, now is a great time to attend a session.
Coats For Kids
The Christ Child Academy Student Service Council will once again be collecting coats for the Annual Coats for Kids Drive. Any gently used coats, hats, gloves, boots, or scarves can be dropped off in the barrel at the school’s main entrance, now through October 31st. What a great way to help those in our community and teach our children the goodness of giving. Thanks for your support!

Box Tops for Education
CCA can earn money from clipping Box Tops found on various products. When you buy items, simply clip the Box Top and bring it to CCA. The Box Tops are submitted, and our school receives a check which is used towards our activity fund. It’s another easy way for you to help the school by purchasing the products you already use! Enlist your family, friends and neighbors to collect the Box Tops, too.
