Welcome Back!

We are so excited to see everyone once again and to welcome new members into the Sterling Choir Family. Newsletters will be sent on a regular basis to household emails, detailing events within the choir program. It is our hope to keep you informed and excited about all the upcoming events. Additionally, this newsletter will be a way for us to share and uplift various moments from Sterling Choir members and ensembles.

Next week, students will view our program handbook and will have a form packet that needs to be filled out and signed. Please thoroughly read the information and return the forms as soon as possible. As always, feel free to reach out to the directors with any questions or concerns.

Visit Our Website!

We try to keep the website as up to date as possible. You will be able to find forms as well as the handbook on this site.

Let me introduce myself:

My name is Dylan Fornshell and I am head director at Sterling High School. Previously, I was the assistant director here at Sterling for three years and before that served as a head director at a high school in southern Indiana. I received my Bachelors of Vocal Music Education and Masters of Music in Choral Conducting from Missouri State University. One of my favorite things to do is travel. I am looking forward to a great year.

TMEA All-State Choir

The All-Region/All-State audition process is about to begin. This is a great opportunity for students to work on their individual musicianship. Each class will be walked through exactly what this process looks like. Members of Meistersingers (6th period) are required, while it is optional for all other students. We are hosting a rehearsal at our school, see below, but there will also be a district wide camp and district wide mock audition. Information will be posted on the choir website as it is made available.

Sterling Choir TMEA Home Camp

Thursday, Aug. 25th, 4-6pm

Sterling Choir Room

This is a great opportunity for students participating in the All-State process to have some additional rehearsal time with the music. (It is not required)

Sterling Choir Boosters

We are blessed to have an amazing group of parent volunteers! Membership is optional but we encourage all families and representatives to join. All of the activities and programs that are offered by the Booster Club are organized and run by volunteers. Not one person can do these events alone; it takes a team of great parents to make the year run smoothly for our directors and students. Membership forms will be given out next week, all members are encouraged to attend the first meeting.

Booster Club First Meeting

Monday, Aug. 22nd, 6pm

Sterling Choir Room

This will be the first meeting of the year for the Sterling Choir Boosters! (Entrance to the choir room is on the west side of the building, located between the Blue House and the tennis courts - near the choir bathrooms.)
