New Things Are Coming!!
Dear parents/guardians, August was filled with the excitement of returning to school. This year, Washington is giving students more opportunities to earn prizes and be excited about coming to school. We are introducing new events to celebrate students such as perfect attendance and PRIDE tickets. Please read below for more details about this.
Washington Elementary is focusing on promoting higher attendance rates. We are encouraging students to come to school everyday and on time if they want to receive prizes. Please see the photo below for more information on how students will be rewarded for being at school everyday AND on time.
Pride Tickets & Patriot Store
Starting September 12, students will get the opportunity to enter a weekly raffle by showing PRIDE. Every Monday, students will receive a PRIDE ticket and have all week to check off each letter. On Fridays, every class will hold a raffle with the completed tickets and 1 winner from each class will get the opportunity to go to the Patriot Store to choose a prize! Please encourage your student to show Patriot PRIDE.
Social Emotional Learning
In the month of September, the school counselors will be going into all classes TK-6th grade and teach students about coping skills. Coping skills are tools or strategies that students can use in stressful situations. Don't forget to ask your student about coping skills and how they can use them.
Washington is a uniform school. Students may wear khaki or dark blue pants, shorts, or skirts with a white, light blue or dark blue plain shirt with a collar. They may wear any school-appropriate jacket, socks, and close-toed shoes. Leggings of any color may be worn under skirts or shorts.
There is a scheduled time for your student to enjoy a snack and a scheduled lunch time for them to eat lunch with their friends. You may send a healthy snack with them to school such as fruit, crackers, cheese, and juice to enjoy at recess. Lunch is provided free of charge for all students or you are welcome to send lunch for your student. Unhealthy food is not permitted on campus. Please do not send any fast food items, "hot" chips, soda, anything with caffeine, or sweets to school.
When dropping off lunch for your student at the front office, please make sure your student knows to pick up their lunch beforehand. You can also email or DOJO teacher notifying them about the student's lunch at the front office. Front office will not contact teacher/student. The front office is not responsible for notifying teachers and students about their lunch.
Parking Lot Update
This school year Washington is trying out a new parking route to increase the safety of our students, parents, and staff. There are 3 pick up zones in our new route. The pickup zones were created to keep the flow of traffic. Please let your student know which zone you will be picking them up from and to wait there. Please see the map below.
