Welcome to the CAASPP Corner!
In this section, you will find information about our upcoming State Testing, games to help prepare you for the technology skills needed to test, and opportunities for the practice test!
This week in the CAASPP corner we're highlighting the Khan Academy app! It's pretty amazing! For example, the Math, which is Common Core is interactive: students can swipe and use their fingers to write in numbers. It's really easy and fun to use, and kids enjoy earning points and building their worlds with earned points. There are also test prep classes/resources for HS students, as well as all usual subjects.
Click this link for a new game to make sure your child knows how to properly use the mouse:
Also, here is a reminder of the incentive for trying out the CAASPP practice tests!
Every year, the state uses past test questions to create practice tests. The tests are found here: Practice Tests Click on Student Interface Practice and Training Tests/Sign In (don't choose guest session or sign-in)
The answer rubrics are found here Scoring Rubrics
We highly recommend you taking sections of this test along with your children. I am actually doing this with my daughter at home! Every few days we choose a subject area and work on 2-3 problems together. It helps me see the areas where she is successful and helps me see where she needs extra support. It also helps that we are interacting in the testing interface so it will look familiar to her when she takes the test!
As a REWARD for taking the test, if you get to the end of the test and can show that you completed a section, please PRINT OUT a screenshot showing that your student is done and you can earn an In-n-Out certificate!
Two sections of Language Arts=one certificate
Two sections of Math=one certificate
One section of Science (for grades 5,8, or High School)=one certificate
So, your kiddo could earn 2-3 certificates for practicing!
When you have your print outs ready, please bring them to me (Megan) in the Oak Room, or feel free to email them to me at firstname.lastname@example.org
***Certificates will be given out until April 17th at the latest***
Thank you and happy practicing!
