ENROL YOUR CHILD NOW
Due to our excellent reputation in the wider community, we are currently experiencing high enrolments.
If you have a little one at home that has not yet commenced at PCPS, I urge you to submit an application immediately to the school.
Some of our families have missed out on a position as they forgot to submit their enrolment form.
Admin staff are not aware if you have younger ones at home so an enrolment form is essential.
Even if your child is only a few months old, please submit an application form now.
Pre Kindy 2023
Our Pre-Kindy (3-Year-Old) is going super strong once again this year with Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday classes full.
We are taking expressions of interest to start a fourth day of Pre Kindy which would run on a Friday (dependant upon numbers). If you are interested please contact the office and speak with Mrs Ellen.
Click on the following link for further information - https://www.padcath.wa.edu.au/early-childhood
If you have friends or neighbours who have children who are 3 years old, please talk to them about our exciting Pre-Kindy programme and encourage them to enrol.
Easter at PCPS
To commence the Lenten season, the whole school joined in the Ash Wednesday liturgy with the ashes being blessed by Father Cyprian.
Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of Lent, was an opportunity for our children to reflect on their faith and make a commitment to living more like Jesus as they received ashes on their foreheads.
This year we focussed our efforts, during Lent, on doing things for others, praying for them and making donations. Each family was provided a project Compassion box with many children giving up their pocket money for those in need.
The children wrote Lenten promises, some of which included doing jobs for mum, dad and nanna and pop, giving up chocolates and lollies, giving up playing Nintendo and helping their friends and their teachers. By focusing on self-improvement, children can learn about the importance of self-discipline and self-reflection, which are also key teachings of Jesus.
Pre Kindy and Kindy planted seeds as a reminder of new beginnings and new life and to remember Jesus came alive again on Easter Sunday.
Our little ones in Pre-Primary hatched eggs as part of their learning about Easter and new life. The children were so delighted with the little fluffy chicks when they arrived! The children had lots of discussion around eggs being a sign of new life and the fact that we share Easter eggs with our friends and family as this is the time when we celebrate Jesus’ resurrection.
As a whole school during Holy Week, we focussed on the Stations of the Cross, which our Year Six leaders prepared. Classes visited the Stations and prayed at each, recalling the events from Palm Sunday through to Eater Sunday. By walking through these stations, the children gained a deeper understanding of the sacrifice that Jesus made for us all and the importance of compassion and forgiveness.
May the renewal of life at Easter bring new blessings of love, hope, peace, good health and happiness to you and your loved ones.
Happy Easter!

Principal

CURRICULUM
EXTENSION PROGRAMME
Extension News
The Extension students from Years 3-6 have been engaged in some exciting and informative learning experiences this term. Over the past few weeks, our focus has been on 'thinking processes' used to guide our learning, with a specific emphasis on the Engineering Design Process and the Inquiry Process.
Throughout the term, the students have had the opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities that have allowed them to apply these processes in practical and engaging ways.
From the solar car challenge to coding robots, philosophy discussions and now onto the egg drop challenge, and tourism inquiry, our students have been fully immersed in a dynamic and hands-on learning environment.
One of the key objectives of this term's program has been to teach students the different processes required to successfully undertake assignments. By exploring the Engineering Design Process and the Inquiry Process in depth, our students have gained valuable insights into how to approach and tackle complex challenges effectively. Learning to ask questions, imagine possibilities, plan, create, test, improve and present findings are skills which will hold our students in good stead for their continued learning.
Not only have our students been able to apply these thinking processes in a practical sense, but they have also developed a deeper understanding of how they can be used to approach problems in their everyday lives. From problem-solving to critical thinking, the skills our students have developed this term will serve them well in the future.
We are incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication shown by our students throughout this term. It has been a pleasure to see them grow and develop their skills as learners.
We look forward to sharing more exciting updates with you in the future!

Italian
In Year 6 the past few weeks, we have been learning about the Solar Eclipse that is happening on the 20th of April. In class we have made objects and posters about things made by Galileo Galilei who was a famous astronomer from Italy. He loved science and invented the celetone, micrometer, compass, escapement and improved the telescope. He made all these instruments so that we could look at things in space. Galileo Galilei had a hard life as he went to jail and got fined for proving that some famous mathematicians were wrong.

Father, Son and Daughter Camp
Back by popular demand is this year's EFL Father Son & Daughter camp night. As always the focus for the event will be on building stronger family relationships though camping in a safe and controlled environment. The event is open to all Year 1 and above school students and families. The use of electronic devices during the camp is discouraged to allow people to "switch off" and reconnect on a non-tech level.
The camp is designed to be inclusive and open to people of all levels of camping experience. In the interest of giving everyone a fair go as numbers are limited, please select one of the dates and book only one of the sessions when booking.
If you have any questions or concerns please contact Nick on 0401 089 494 .
Looking forward to seeing you all there.
