A Spotlight on Officer Kevin Thompson
"Kevin was born and raised in Oklahoma. Growing up, he saw how gangs and drugs affected the community, and he knew he wanted a career that would help make a difference. He served in the United States Marine Corps for eight years (and was part of Operation Desert Storm) before coming to Oxnard.
Kevin joined the Oxnard Police Department in 1994 and worked Patrol assignments for 8 years before becoming a School Resource Officer. Officer Thompson is currently assigned to Patrol and the Youth Services division. He hopes to soon return as a Resource Officer, as he is passionate about "investing in our future and serving as a mentor to students starting from a young age."
He is very active in the community and has coached basketball for over 20 years at the Police Activities League., Santa Clara High School, and Oxnard High School.
Kevin enjoys spending time with his family, playing sports with his children, listening to music, and being active in his church."
