PRINCIPAL NEWS
Greetings EES Families,
Happy New Year to you all!
2021 is off to a great start here at school. Students and staff have returned to school energized and ready for learning and growth. Next week, you will receive your child’s progress report for the first trimester. I hope you will have an opportunity to talk with your child about their growth and progress and what they are learning at school.
As always, please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
My Best,
Ashley

First grade artists have been making kindness collage-bots.
In second grade, artists are studying the artwork of Tyree Guyton and the Heidelberg Project to create their own houses out of recyclables.

LEARNING CENTER
Reading is an Investment program:
The library will participate in the Vermont Office of the State Treasurer’s annual program: Reading is an Investment. The program offers students in kindergarten through 6th grades the opportunity to learn about money and basic financial concepts to help them make the connection between these stories and their individual lives. During the month of December EES students K-2 listened to 3 stories in the library about financial literacy, with the theme I’m an Entrepreneur! They also filled out and completed a reading log/entry form. As part of the library program, I plan on submitting all students’ entries. Other than your child’s name, no other personal information is shared on the reading log. In May of 2021 there will be 20 students across Vermont randomly selected as winners of this program, each receiving a $250 college savings account.
Last year EES had one lucky winner, and since 2014 we have had 7 students win this prize! For more information here’s a link to the program’s website: http://www.vermonttreasurer.gov/content/financial-literacy/reading-investment
