Library Hours and Policies
The Tafolla Library is open from 8:00 to 4:00. Students are always welcome to visit the library as long as they have a pass. Lunch passes are available only from Mrs. Humphrey and are only valid on Thursday and Friday.
- Students may visit with teacher's permission and with a pass
- Students are allowed to check out four (4) books
- Loan Periods are Two (2) Weeks

This month our ELA classes have all signed up for their own library days. Our circulation is currently at 587 books! Keep up the good work Toros!

Hispanic Heritage Month and Banned Books Week will be the focus of our library's programming this month. Check out the resources below!
Hispanic Heritage Month September 15-October 15
Hispanic Heritage Month begins September 15! This annual celebration recognizes Hispanic history and culture and pays tribute to Hispanic Americans that have contributed to the cultural enrichment of our society. Stop by the library to check out our collection of Hispanic fiction and non-fiction, including biographies.
National Endowment for the Humanities
This website gives a great overview of the roots of Hispanic culture and allows students and teachers many resources from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
National Hispanic Heritage Month
Offers links to lesson plans, student activities, and collection guides.
Tomas Rivera Mexican American Children's Book Award
The Tomás Rivera Mexican American Children’s Book Award honors authors and illustrators who create literature that depicts the Mexican American experience. This site offers book activities to teach social justice.
Banned Books Week September 22-28
Banned Books Week is an annual campaign that celebrates the freedom to read draws attention to banned and challenged books. Students are invited to check out books that have previously been banned and to celebrate their right to read. Tafolla Library students will be participating in the Dear Banned Author letter writing campaign sponsored by the American Library Association.

Dear Banned Author
Our students can write letters and postcards to their favorite banned or challenged author.
International Literacy Association
This website offers resources to help you advocate for every child's right to read. You can download The Children's Right to Read and learn about how these 10 rights were selected. Very interesting reading you can share with your students.
