May Photo Contest: Memorial Day!

Our May photo contest theme is Memorial Day - which is the day we honor the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Many people have used photographs to capture the stories of these men and women in creative and moving ways.

We are encouraging you to submit a photograph you have taken relating to our May theme, Memorial Day, for the chance to win a prize! A winner in each grade range (K–2, 3–5, 6–8, and 9–12) will be chosen.

The contest runs May 1, 2021 through May 31, 2021. Full details and official contest rules, along with the entry form at

Students in kindergarten through 12th grade are invited to participate and are encouraged to submit as many entries as they'd like. Prizes will be awarded to the top winner from each grade level.

Clubs have moved to Zoom!

Our club sessions have switched to Zoom, so club sessions no longer show up on students' schedules. We recommend signing up using a personal email address, as Zoom will not be able to send the invite to a school email address and the school’s security system will not let the email through.

After registering, you should receive a confirmation email from Zoom containing the session link to join as well as a calendar invite that you can add to your personal calendar that will send a reminder before the session.

NEW! Social Club

We are excited to offer a new Social Club Hour with our students for the month of May! Have you ever wanted to meet up with other online students your age during lunchtime and just hang out? Well, you can with our new Social Club session!

These sessions are meant for you to just hang out and talk with other students your age! There will be breakout rooms so you can hang out with other students in your grade and talk about whatever you want!

* This club session will appear on the student OLS Daily Plan and will be via Newrow *

Stride Nursing Club

Is your teen considering a career in the nursing field? The newly-formed Stride Nursing Club provides teens in grades 6-12 (and their teachers!) the virtual opportunity to learn about the many types of in-demand nursing positions that are available for individuals of all education levels. The club meets 1x per month and features an in-depth discussion with nurses from around the country as they share their career journeys. Just in case, your child can’t make the club event… all sessions are recorded and they can listen on their own schedule. Interesting in learning more? Click here. Registration is open now for the speaker sessions here both on-demand and live.
