1. COVID-19 Guidelines and Requirement Updates

COVID guidelines and requirements vary by situation and that can be highly confusing. Below are some clarifications that hopefully will help explain.

  • Testing - the schools intend to offer both BINAX (also referred to as Antigen, or rapid) testing and PCR testing this year. Unfortunately, the state cancelled the PCR training for our nurses which was scheduled before school opened. As soon as that is rescheduled and supplies arrive we will be able to offer limited PCR testing, as the need may outstrip our capacity.

  • A negative PCR test is required before reentry for symptomatic individuals who are sent home to isolate. Also, guidelines call for isolating anyone with one COVID symptom. Prior it had been with two symptoms. Unvaccinated siblings of students with one or more symptoms need to be dismissed for quarantine while the student with symptoms PCR test is pending.

  • Distancing guidelines for student grouping and determining close contacts are different. For masked elementary students in stable groups, social distancing is not required and a 3’ distance is required when unmasked. However, in determining close contacts, 6’ is used if the students remove their masks at any time such as for mask breaks, snack, and lunch.

2. REMINDER: COVID-19 Annual Attestation Form & Opt-In Testing Consent Available in Aspen Parent Portal

Here are the directions for families to fill out the Annual Attestation Form in the Aspen Parent Portal. This is a change from last year and only requires families to fill out once at the beginning of the year attesting that they will screen daily for symptoms of COVID-19.

These directions also include information about the optional In-School Testing Opt-In Form via the Aspen Parent Portal.
