A Message from Mrs. Caudill
The force of synergy was strong at Amerman! Thank you to all the Bobcats that donated to the Civic Concern drive. We collected 2,459 items! We were only 181 items away from our goal! Thank you to all the Bobcat families that donated items, helped count the items and helped transport the items to Civic Concern.
We are very happy to announce that Mrs. Willerer's class collected the most items and will be awarded a special prize!
The following classes collected over 120 items and defeated the dark side. Your teacher will award you with "A Day on the Light Side": Beson, Pavlich, Willerer, Mooney, Wells, McDougall, Parnin, and Long.
A special thanks to the members of our Community Service Team for their hard work and dedication to the amazing project. Emily, Angela, Andrew & Hayden- YOU ROCK!
With Gratitude,
Devon Caudill

5th Grade Parents - It's time to start thinking about Middle School!

February Focus- Kindness! Habit 5: Seek First to Understand Then to be Understood
Every month Amerman Focuses on a new theme and Leader in Me Habit of the Month. The focus for the month of February is kindness and our Habit of the Month is Habit 5: Seek First to Understand Then to be Understood.
Leader in Me sets out in Habit 5 to change the way we interact with people by changing the way that we listen to them. In order to reach a Win-Win situation with others, we must be able to see and understand their point of view. Habit 5 isn’t just about purely learning to listen to the other person though. It’s essentially the culmination of the techniques in the first 4 habits. These habits need to be in place and understood for you to be truly able to understand and then be understood.
If you would like to recognize your child for displaying kindness at home by using Habit 5, please fill out the following Bobcat Boost and return it to your child's teacher.

Flour Power Field Trip!
This week our 4th grade ALPS classes traveled to Flour Power. It was an introduction to how we use fractions in the world. It was part 1 of our "Katering for Kindness" project. In that, students need to select and recipe and learn how to scale it for various group sizes. At Flour Power they were practicing how to scale, measure, and bake various recipes while using their fractions standards so that they can independently scale, bake, and sell goods at the 5th Grade music concert.
In order to have a little fun, upon arriving, student teams were presented with 2 envelopes to choose from. Inside these envelopes were two different recipes that had an extra fractional math challenge that had to be completed in 60 minutes or less. Students had to collaborate and determine the best way to solve the problem without leaving any group members behind.
