October is here and with it, thoughts of Halloween and costume ideas. If your child/children are planning to wear their costume to school, please use the following guidelines:
In order to maintain safety and order during Halloween activities, our students should adhere to the standards of appropriate dress for a regular school day: wear appropriate shoes (no high heels), no bare midriffs, etc. It is important to remember that we have very young children on campus that would be easily frightened by scary or gory costumes. Students should not wear imitation bloody clothes or any masks. Students should not bring swords, imitation guns, pirate hooks, knives or weapons of any kind.

HALLOWEEN PARADE
We will be having our annual Halloween Parade on Thursday, October 31st. The parade will once again be on the blacktop. It is set to begin at 8:15 and will end by 9:00. Parents will enter and leave through the MPR (the same as Friday Flag). If you plan on staying on campus after the parade, you will need to sign in at the Office.
GREAT CALIFORNIA SHAKE-OUT
Because of the Great California Shake Out on October 17th, the Running Club scheduled for that day will be on Friday, October 18th.
This is also a good time to talk about disaster preparedness at home. Follow this link to find more information on keeping your family safe in case of an Earthquake.
HALLOWEEN CANDY BUY BACK
Remember to bring in your unwanted or leftover Halloween candy for our ANNUAL HALLOWEEN CANDY BUY BACK! Last year we raised nearly $250! Let’s beat that this year! For every pound we have in candy, Westwood Elementary earns $1 from I-Ortho San Diego (formerly Moser Orthodontics)! All of the donated candy will be shared with our military troops around the world!
Bring your candy into our school office and drop it in our black BOO BARREL from OCT 31st – Nov. 8th
