Principal Ponderings: Small Habits-Big Impact
I continued to think this week as I prepared to moderate our MEMSPA chat this week on the power of creating small habits onto things we already do that we now don't even realize. For me, I always get my clothes prepared the night before. I can stack the need to make my coffee on that and hopefully it will then become just part of my habitual routine. Only downfall is not stopping at the Shell station and not seeing the super peppy lady that calls me Sweetie at 6:45 in the morning.
What's a small habit you are thinking about creating and what do you already do that you can stack your new habit on to?

March is Reading Month with United Way
The United Way will be placing a book collection box near the front lobby. If you have any gently used books that you would like to donate, please feel free to place them there during the month of March!
Did you know that 24% of adults in America report to not having read a book in the last 12 months? Book donations don't all have to be children's books as adults need quality reading material available to them.

P2/PBIS
- consistence placement in top 2 over a 3 week period can earn fun rotations during Lancer Time on Fridays (i.e. 7th grade earns 1st/2nd over 3 weeks they get some "fun" time)
- recognizing students for P2 character strengths using Lancer Leader tickets in addition to "Take Care of..." motto
- addition of small incentives for Lancer Leader tickets: lunch with friends in office, special lunch (pizza, subs, etc.) compliments of Mr. Swegles
If you have incentive ideas for students that you think would be fun for them and relatively easy and inexpensive to provide, feel free to send them my way.

Presentation: Dr. Joe Johnson
I've had the pleasure of knowing Joe for over a decade and have watched him progress from a Master's counseling student at Western to earning his Doctorate from the University of Florida. From there he has taken the stage all around the country. Not only will Joe be presenting to our whole group on power of purpose and building positive relationships, but he will also be working with two small groups (one male, one female) of at-risk students for 30 minutes each.
From his bio at Cool Speak: Dr. Joe Johnson is a former standout college athlete who understands the importance of education and developing individuals and organizations in as many ways as possible. As a Licensed School Counselor, he has worked in a variety of K-12 school settings but has also done extensive work with undergraduate and graduate populations, corporate organizations, and with many entrepreneurs. Serving as an Educator, Mentor, Trainer, Peak Performance Coach, and Entrepreneur Leader across the country, Dr. Johnson continues to transform the lives of individuals and organizations by shifting mindsets which translates into purposeful thinking, acting, and living.
As the author of the books “Pursue Your Purpose Not Your Dreams” and “The College Kids” which is one of the first bilingual books in the country about college for elementary school-aged students, Dr. Johnson is excited to spread his message of versatility, purpose, and self-esteem to the world. His personal story is captivating and his charming ability to engage his audience with humor and authenticity is one of a kind. Known around the country as the man with the best smile in the world, Dr. Joe Johnson is always excited to watch the transition into one’s PURPOSE!
