2nd Hand News
Welcome Information
Dear 2nd Graders & Families,
It is with great anticipation that I look forward to seeing you on September 4th. I've been working to get our classroom ready and I'm excited to hear all about your summer adventures! If you would like to, you may bring in a small item that describes an experience or project that you did this summer, or you may just tell us about it.
Here are some important things to know about the first few days of school:
Our first day, September 4th, is a half day with 12 noon dismissal. Please bring a snack and a smile. September 5th is a full day, so bring a snack and a lunch.
Your first job as a 2nd grader is to know how you are going home from school on the first day. A good way to let me know is to give a note to me, indicating BUS or CAR. For Friday, please write down BUS, CAR, or AFTER SCHOOL. I will send a dismissal chart home with you for the next week, and we will use this system for the rest of the year.
Please remember to bring back any books you borrowed over the summer. We have some clothing and boots that stayed at school over vacation, so please check lost & found in the 2nd grade cubby room if you are missing an item.

Some items you will need this year:
- A reusable, labeled lunchbox or bag
- A hard plastic, standard size pencil box
- A pocket folder
- Sneakers for PE on Tuesday and Friday
- A plastic mug
- A backpack
- A complete change of labeled extra clothes in a ziploc bag
- Slippers or extra sneakers in case of muddy puddles (optional)
Your second job as a 2nd grader is to make a prediction about our classroom pet.
Clues: it is pink and it swims, but it is not a fish!
I know we will have a fantastic year of learning and growing together as the leaders of Lower School! See you soon.
With a smile,
Mrs. Nyce
