A Message From Ms. Saenz
Hello cubs!
Happy April,
April is a month with lots to celebrate including Earth Day (4/22), National Poetry Month, and School Librarian Week.
In the library we will be sharing poems from poets all around the world! Poetry is one of my favorite genres, and I am excited to share this love with you all.
I invite you to join me on Thursday, April 29th for “Poem in Your Pocket Day”. Poem in Your Pocket Day is an international movement that encourages people to center poetry within their daily interactions. On P.I.Y.P. Day, select a poem, carry it with you, and share it with others at your school, libraries, bookstores, and at home.
I will be carrying a special poem in my pocket and would love to share my poem with you, and you share your poem with me!
If you need help finding a poem, come to the library! Our front display is in honor of National Poetry Month and we have many poetry books to choose from!
Also, please check out our Virtual Libraries Page on Blend! I have included four new libraries: Shel Silverstein (my favorite poet), Earth Day, Spring Readings, and Space! We now have a total 20 virtual libraries to read from!
Happy Reading!

A Message From Ms. Schultz
Hello Bear Creek Families!
Between this week and Monday of next week all students will have two PE opportunities to show me their hand and foot work skills that we've been working on. I will be assessing students in class based on the grade level student expectations for each of the units which are posted on BLEND.
Remote learners will continue to need a ball that they can bounce like a basketball. Wall space for 3-5 grade students will be helpful when they show me their passing skills.
Student expectations, rubrics, learning resources, and previous lessons for current units are always posted on the grade level PE BLEND Pages.
Fourth quarter PE grades will come from:
- Participation
- Volleying (we didn't get the assessment in during the 3rd quarter, so that's how we started this nine weeks)
- Hand Dribble
- Foot Dribble
- Sleep / Stress Management
FitnessGram will be included in most lessons this nine weeks. Click on the BCE FitnessGram Website button below for more information on FitnessGram. Our 3-5 grade students will really get into the assessment piece of FitnessGram towards the end of the month. I'll be starting our first round of FG measurements on Friday, April 23rd. I'll focus on the FG schedule in next week's Smore and the kiddos will hear from me about what's coming during PE classes :)
Please continue to use the PE BLEND Courses as your first source of information regarding PE, and message me through Blend or email with any further questions. Each grade level PE BLEND Course is linked below.
Thank you for your continued support!
Ms. Schultz
