Ode of Rememberance
They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shal not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun in the morning.
We will remember them.
The Western Front
Between 1916 and 1918, all five Australian Divisions took part in the terriblefighting on theWestern front.
Gallipoli
In 1915 Australian toops played a big roll in the Allies' they failed envading Turkey through an attack on the Gallipoli Peninsula.
The Middle East
AustralianFlying Corps, the Australian Light Horse and The AustralianImperial Camel Corps played a massive roll in the battles against Turkey. This occured between 1916 and 1918.
THE CAUSES OF WW1
Australians At home
The war also had a very big impact on the people back in Australia. Wife's were loosing their husbands and sons and children were losing their fathers and brothers. Women had to replace the med in the workforce because all the men went to war. These women were not paid reasonably.
Trench warfare
Troops built 9 foot trenches that went from miles long to fight against their enemy's. These trenches were smelly and very wet. They were surrounded by barb wire and on the other side was no mans land. No mans land was the are in between two trenches, you are shot to pieces if you enter this area.
Australian Troops
The brave and courageous Australian men going off to war to serve for out country. Putting their life's at risk for a better future.
Conscription
conscription in World War 1 was when men for forced to enlist or they would get 2 years in jail. I honestly think this is cowardly and violation of human rights. No one should be forced to do something they don't want to do!
The significance of ANZAC day for Australians.
ANZAC day Is held on the 25th of April. It is one of Australia's important national occasions. On this day we acknowledge and thank the mighty soldiers who fought for us in World war 1. Even though the Gallipoli campaign failed, the Australian and New Zealand actions during the campaign left us all a powerful legacy that Australia and the world would never forget.
