Eagle Crest Family Newsletter

Principal Message
Hello Eagle Crest Families!
As the temperatures start to get a bit cooler, it is such a joy to spend time outside with our children! All students have lunch recess and a grade level recess at another time in the day, and many classrooms are finding opportunities for expanded outdoor learning activities. We have had guest speakers outside, independent reading time, science exploration and outdoor math games. I’m always grateful to live in beautiful Colorado, most especially so that our children can access the outdoors throughout the year!
As you know, student safety is the top priority here at Eagle Crest. To help keep children and staff safe at school we utilize an emergency system called the Standard Response Protocol (SRP). The SRP is used throughout the state of Colorado and incorporates a series of drills that we practice throughout the year to develop “muscle memory” for what to do in case of an emergency. Tomorrow, we will be facilitating a lockdown drill and all classes have reviewed the safety steps. I am linking some family information around SRP here, if you would like to check it out. Please reach out to me if you have any questions.
I hope you have a great weekend!
Warmly,
Amanda

What's happening in Uganda at our sister school?
Exciting news this week! All the teachers at Mwebaza Annex, our partner school, got vaccinated on September 1st!!!! There is a big push in Uganda right now to get as many teachers vaccinated as possible so they can open the schools. Some of the lock down restrictions have been lifted as well. Transportation is again available so that people can get to work and other places. Everyone is waiting to hear when they will open the schools to all students. Meanwhile teachers will continue to supply students with take home packets to work on at home.
