RSLAHS BACK TO SCHOOL NEWS

SCHOOL IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER! FIRST DAY OF CLASSES IS MONDAY, AUGUST 20TH!
We are looking forward to starting year two at RSLAHS. There is a buzz in the air with the anticipation of busy hallways, laughing teenagers and general back to school excitement. Please take a few minutes to read the information so you and your student are best prepared for the start of a new school year.
STUDENT SCHEDULES
Should your student require a schedule change, you can contact the counselor , Lee Basquin, at lbasquin@rslacademy.org to schedule a time to meet regarding your schedule. Mr. Basquin will be taking appointments starting the the week of August 13. Schedule changes will be made through the first week of school, if your student is unable to schedule an appointment prior to the first day of school, have them attend classes as scheduled until their appointment time. Class schedule changes will be final on Friday, August 24.
If your student did not complete the course request process, when they log in to Aspire they may not show a schedule. If this is the case, they will need to contact the counselor, Lee Basquin, at lbasquin@rslacademy.org to schedule a time to recieve a schedule. Mr. Basquin will be taking appointments starting the the week of August 13.
PARENT ASPIRE ACCOUNT
Aspire is the student information system. You will use Aspire to check grades and assignments, check and make payments for school fees, as well as register your student for returning years. Please do not delay in setting up an account.

Then click on the blue link below the login information that says "Request a Username"
You will be prompted to enter your student's ID number and birth date. Your student ID number is located on the email information provided to your student at registration (it is the number listed as username) or you can email the office to get it.
You will be prompted to choose a username and password and to verify your student's information.
You can also subscribe to receive automatic weekly updates regarding your students academic progress, you do this by clicking on the "Subscribe" button in the top right hand corner of your student's home page.
If you have questions setting up your parent account, please contact the office.
LOCKERS
Gym lockers are only available for use during assigned class time. If your student is planning on using a locker during gym time we strongly encourage sending a lock. RSLAHS will not be responsible for unsecured items in the locker rooms.
SCHOOL LUNCH
Wasatch Restaurant Group is our lunch provider. They are the meal provider for all of the RSL training facility. Due to the high qulaity of food provided, RSLAHS does not participate in the National School Lunch Program, meaning we do not offer a free or reduced lunch option. If lunch prices are not within your budget, we encourage your student to bring a lunch from home. If you have extenuating circumstances please speak to a member of our office staff.
Breakfast is served Monday - Thursday from 7:30am - 8:20am and Fridays from 9:30am - 10:00am. The cost for breakfast is $2.50. Lunch is served daily and is $3.50 per student.
Below are the instructions for setting up your student's lunch account. You can deposit money into their account via credit card on the website or by sending cash or check with your student to the cafeteria. Students are also able to pay daily for lunch.

Once you have completed that step, you will be able to view and pay your balance and add additional funds to your student's account.
You will use your student's 4 digit ID number to set up your account, or if you have multiple students, you can create a family account using the phone number we have on file.

BUS TRANSPORTATION
Monday thru Thursday 7:45am pick up @ The Daybreak Trax Station - 11405 S Grandville Avenue; South Jordan
Monday thru Thursday 8:15am pick up @ Providence Hall - 4617 W Patriot Ridge Drive; Herriman
Friday 9:15am pick up @ The Daybreak Trax Station - 11405 S Grandville Avenue; South Jordan
Drop off will be daily after 3:25pm school dismissal to the Daybreak Trax Station only.
For students involved in after school extra curricular activites, you will be required to provide your own transportation.
*If you are aware of a heavily populated area that could be benefitted by additional transportation, please bring this to the attention of our principal, Mr. Stock.
Text Communication
We will be using the One Call Now service to notify you of student attendance, last minute changes, notifications and reminders. In order to receive text information you must text the word ALERT to 22-300 to opt in to receiving text messages.

Back to School Nights - Wednesday, August 15 and Thursday, August 16 from 5pm-8pm
PLAN ON ATTENDING BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT!
There will be many events taking place during back to school night, including:
- Schedule distribution
- Student fingerprinting
- Chromebook distribution
- Fee Collection (fee waivers will be available)
- School Pictures
- Locker Assignments
- Meet the teachers and faculty
- School tours
For all new students, we will have a New Student Orientation/Question & Answer session both nights. On Wednesday the session will be from 5:30pm-6:oopm and on Thursday the session will be from 7:00pm-7:30pm. All new students and their parents should plan on attending one of the new student orientation sessions.
