Board of Education
An update from Barrington 220: October 16, 2019
Board approves Distance Learning Plan
At its Oct. 15 meeting, the Board approved a Distance Learning Plan for Barrington 220, which would allow students to complete the school day from home on an inclement weather day.
This could eliminate the need to make up days at the end of the school year. The Barrington 220 administration worked in collaboration with the Barrington Education Association (BEA) and Barrington School District Employee Organization (BSEO) on the Distance Learning Plan, which encompasses traditional lesson assignments at home that do not require an electronic device, as well as eLearning (lesson assignments at home that require an electronic device, such as an iPad). Please note, there may be circumstances when Barrington 220 does not implement the Distance Learning Plan during inclement weather and instead decides to make up the day at the end of the school year.

Board to hold public comment on IASB resolutions
At its Oct. 15 meeting, the Board announced it is seeking public feedback regarding the Illinois Association of School Board's (IASB) 2019 resolution proposals.
Every November school boards from across the state send a delegate to the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB) conference in Chicago. At this conference, the delegates vote on proposed resolutions IASB will pursue in the upcoming legislative sessions.
Prior to this conference, the Barrington 220 Board of Education is holding a public comment session, where community members can share their thoughts on the resolutions up for approval. The public comment session will be held at the next regularly scheduled Board meeting on Nov. 5 and it will begin at 8pm. The Board asks comments be limited to 90 seconds. Community members who wish to speak are encouraged to sign up in advance. Please contact Jeanine Stark at jstark@barrington220.org and indicate which resolution you wish to address. To email your comments to the Board instead of participating in public comment, please click here.
The Board will discuss and vote on which resolutions it plans to support, at its regularly scheduled meeting on Nov. 19. Click here to view the 2019 resolutions.
