We are excited to have Mr. Cameron McKay join us for the remainder of the year. EIPS schools received funding for supporting learning. He will be working with classes and small groupings to assist students in Junior High English Math.

To our future and present Ardrossan students and families,
Welcome to Ardrossan Jr. Sr. High!
AJS is hosting an informal drop-in on Wednesday, May 4 from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. for all interested community members and students - present or incoming.
Students and families will be able to visit the school. We will have hotdogs and refreshments for all those that attend.
There will be a new Grade 7 orientation in August before school starts. Stay tuned!
We look forward to seeing you.

AJS School Council Meeting - May 9, 2022
Ardrossan Jr. Sr. High will be hosting our regularly scheduled School Council meeting on Monday, May 9 at 6:30 p.m. There will be 2 formats that you can access. Either in-person or virtually using Google Meets.
Please RSVP to michelle.hothem-bumbry@eips.ca by no later than Monday, May 9 at noon and indicate if you are attending in-person or via Google Meet with your e-mail address.
A Google meeting link will be emailed out by 6:00 p.m. on Monday to those that RSVP. Please find the agenda and minutes from our previous meeting below. We hope that you can join us.

Mother's day is just around the corner so to celebrate the Student Council committee is hosting a Mother's Day Tea and Plants day on May 5 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Ardrossan for that special maternal figure in your life.
You will able to create a beautiful flower or herb pot while spending quality time together.

Join us on May 2 as we recognize and thank our school bus operators for keeping the safety of our students their first priority. We encourage you, and your children, to take a moment to say thanks to our bus operators—who go above and beyond to provide safe and timely transportation to our students.

Student Transportation: 2022-23 registration is now open
Planning to use Student Transportation in the 2022-23 school year? If so, make sure your child is registered so Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) can plan routes and send your child a bus pass before the first day of school.
All students who indicated needing transportation services through the returning student registration process are now registered. Families registered will received tentative route schedules and invoices by the end of the month—fees are due June 30, 2022.
For those students who didn’t indicate needing transportation service through the pre-enrolment process and want to now register, simply contact EIPS Student Transportation at 780-417-8151 or email st@eips.ca.

Bayer Crop Science Opportunity Scholarship
Are you a graduating Grade 12 student looking for a bit of help to finance your post-secondary education in agriculture, food science or culinary arts? If so, apply for one of 32 scholarships, each valued at $3,000, offered by Bayer Crop Science. The application deadline is June 8, 2022.
The Bayer Crop Science Opportunity Scholarship program is available to graduating Grade 12 students entering their first year of post-secondary education in agriculture, food science or a culinary program at a Canadian university or college of their choice in the fall of 2022. The program has added two scholarships specifically for students who identify as Indigenous and want to explore agriculture and food education. Scholarships will be awarded to students based on demonstrated academic achievement, leadership in their community and their vision for how they will contribute to Canadian agriculture in the future.
Refer to the scholarship details to review the program guidelines, connect to Scholarship Partners Canada—a division of Universities Canada who serve as the independent administrator for the Bayer Crop Science Opportunity Scholarship program—and apply.
ATCO Indigenous Education Awards
The ATCO Indigenous Education Awards Program recognizes Indigenous students who demonstrate leadership capabilities and strive to be role models in their school and communities.
There are three different awards available:
- Merit awards ($500) – for students completing grades 10-12, including upgrading.
- Bursaries ($1,000) – for students enrolled in trade, diploma or certificate programs.
- Scholarships ($1,500) – for students enrolled in degree or graduate programs.
The application deadline is Aug. 15, 2022.
