HONORED TO DELIVER FOR SOUTH PLAINFIELD

As a hometown Senator, Patrick Diegnan is honored to work with Assemblymen Robert Karabinchak and Sterley Stanley to secure state funds for South Plainfield residents. New Jersey’s fiscal year 2024 budget includes $1 million for the construction of a new above-ground fueling station in the borough and a record $18.2 million for its schools. The South Plainfield School District will receive the state’s biggest percentage increase in pre-K funding and second largest percentage increase in K-12 state aid. Read more.

METUCHEN TO RECEIVE $5.25 MILLION FOR PROJECTS


Through the state's annual budget process, Senator Patrick Diegnan and Assemblymen Robert Karabinchak and Sterley Stanley secured $5.25 million for three projects in Metuchen. The funding will aid the borough in the construction of the Metuchen Emergency Services building ($2 million), design and development of the Metuchen Arts District ($3 million), and development of the Main Street Pocket Park on the site of the former Manasquan Bank drive-thru ($250,000). "This is the largest amount the borough has ever received from the state budget and is a direct result of the extraordinary relationships we have cultivated with officials across the state," Metuchen Mayor Jonathan Busch said. LIONS CLUB ROARS WITH CHARITY RUN FOR CHILDREN

The Edison Lions Club supported eight international marathoners at the entrance to the Middlesex Greenway in Metuchen along the 2023 Lions Charity Run, which spanned a 484-mile stretch from Washington D.C. to Boston. The run raised money for children in war-torn Ukraine and for children who are victims of natural disasters in the United States and across the globe. Watch the video below.

FUNDING ADDRESSES MILLTOWN'S WATER LINE ISSUES

Senator Patrick Diegnan worked with Assemblymen Robert Karabinchak and Sterley Stanley to secure $1 million in state funding to address water line issues in Milltown, the newest member of the 18th Legislative District. The funding is part of more than $44 million Diegnan, Karabinchak and Stanley have secured for their towns through the state's annual budget process over the past two years. Read more.

NEW JERSEY TRANSPORTATION RESEARCH BUREAU

Legislation establishing a New Jersey Transportation Research Bureau to study the mobility needs of individuals with physical, sensory, intellectual, and developmental disabilities is headed to Governor Phil Murphy’s desk to be signed into law. The bill’s advancement fittingly came on June 30, one day before the start of Disability Pride Month in New Jersey, which promotes the independence and inclusion of state residents with disabilities. EDISON RECEIVES FUNDS FOR MUNICIPAL BROADBAND

Senator Patrick Diegnan, Assemblyman Robert Karabinchak and Assemblyman Sterley Stanley are honored to work with Edison Mayor Sam Joshi to address the township's broadband issues. The $2 million in state funding the three legislators secured for municipal broadband was approved days after the township received $1 million for the construction of an indoor sports facility at the Edison Jets Pop Warner complex as part of the state’s fiscal year 2023 budget. FREE EYE AND VISION SCREENINGS AVAILABLE JULY 19


In partnership with the New Jersey Department of Human Services (NJDHS) and on behalf of legislators from the 18th District, Assemblyman Robert Karabinchak has scheduled no-cost eye and vision screenings on July 19 at the Minnie B. Veal Recreation Center in Edison from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Please visit this link to pre-register, which is required. The NJDHS program aims to prevent vision loss and promote eye health through various services and resources. It offers education, screenings, referrals, and support to individuals at risk of or living with visual impairments, enhancing their independence and well-being.

DOWNTOWNS RECEIVE GRANTS FOR REVITALIZATION

Metuchen and Highland Park are among New Jersey’s many shining examples of how revitalizing downtowns positively impacts our communities. HIGHLAND PARK COMMUNITY CENTER TO BE RENOVATED

With funding Senator Patrick Diegnan, Assemblyman Robert Karabinchak and Assemblyman Sterley Stanley secured through the state's annual budget process, the Highland Park Community Center, which is a hub of activity, will be renovated. The improvements include replacing the roof, which is original to the 30-year-old building, and renovating the bathrooms, which have never been upgraded. Read more.

11TH ANNUAL SHERIFF’S CIVILIAN ACADEMY

The Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office will conduct an eight-week Sheriff’s Civilian Academy this fall for Middlesex County residents. Applications are currently being accepted. Each session will highlight functions of the Sheriff’s Office including defensive tactics, K-9, transportation, fingerprinting, DARE, courts, civil process, foreclosures, and more. Participants will tour the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office and the main courthouse located in New Brunswick. Read more.
