AFTERCARE: If you would like to register your child(ren) for Aftercare, please see the information and application below. Please print the forms and bring them with you to registration. If you don’t have access to a printer, please stop in the school office for hard copies.
KINDERCARE: If your child was in TK this past year or if you did not sign up your TK or Kindergartener during enrollment and would like Friday Kindercare in the 2023-24 school year, please contact the office by August 1. To learn more about Kindercare, check out the document below.
4CARE: There are still spots open in our 4Care program. The 4Care classroom is in the main school building with lots of room, new toys and furniture, and run by Tara Dekkers! Check out https://www.siouxcenterchristian.com/studentlife/4care.cfm to learn more.
Busing
We will continue to share busing with the public school.
We need ALL families to fill out the following Google Form with your busing intentions. If you did not already do so from the June announcement, please fill this out by Tuesday, Aug. 1. Click here for the bus form.
See the map below for bus eligibility. Students living outside the red boxed area are eligible to ride the bus.

MORE INFO ABOUT BUSING FOR NEW FAMILIES, REMINDERS FOR RETURNING FAMILIES
- Busing is free.
- SCCS, Kinsey, the middle school, and the high school all run together and drop off/pick up students from each school. There are 2 SCCS buses that pick up students who live outside of the district and have a few in-town stops as well (Bus #2014 and Bus #2020). The public school transportation director, Scott Shippy, as well as our director of transportation, Howard Rus, coordinate that route. All other buses that pick up/drop off our students will be a public school bus (Each of these bus numbers are two digits: i.e. Bus #07, Bus #11, Bus #14, Bus #18)
- If a family lives within one mile of school, they will be eligible to ride in the winter months, but there are no stops within those areas outside of the winter months. A sign-up comes out in the Home Bulletin to sign up for this option. Please mark “no” for riding bus if you are within this area, and we will add your family to the list during winter sign up.
- There are in-town bus stops. These will be officially set and published once the transportation director has mapped all students interested in busing for the coming year.
- In the afternoon, some routes may end up with a transfer at the middle school.
- If you know of a neighbor from SCCS who will ride the bus, we encourage you to make a buddy system for the first few weeks until new students are more comfortable with the route.
- If you have any questions or change your mind about busing (either taking or dropping it), please contact the office at sccsoffice@siouxcenterchristian.com or 712-722-0777.

Substitute Teachers Needed
We are always in need of more quality substitute teachers and paras. We're looking for individuals who enjoy working with children, can follow instructions provided, and can be flexible with responsibilities. Responsibilities depend on the needs, but could range from kindergarten all the way to 8th grade, full or partial days, and could be classroom teacher or paraprofessional. Times, dates, and assignments are all depending on your preference. We will work with your schedule and level of comfort. Teaching degree not required. If interested, please fill out the form at the following link: Sub Info Form

We Need You to Serve God’s treasured kids at SCCS!!
This year we are requiring each family to serve in one of two areas that benefit every SCCS student.
Washing Dishes:
Hours are 11:15am - 1:00pm. Three people work together to wash trays and silverware and wipe the tables. Bonus: You get to eat lunch for free with one of your children! We are asking that you work at least one time per month.
Benefit: With three volunteers working each school day, we save the cost of hiring three part-time employees.
Outlet 75:
Shifts are available on Wednesdays and Thursdays.. There are two volunteers needed for each shift and there is always a manager present to give you guidance. Volunteers help check out customers, unpack, check, and price clothing, steam clothing, put items on display, and neaten displays. Everything at Outlet 75 is new and purchased at a deep discount from places like Costco and Target.
Volunteers are critical to sales - the more merchandise we can get on the floor, the more we can sell! We are asking that you work at least two times per year.
Benefit: Outlet 75 distributes all profits to SCCS and each child receives a share of that profit in the Alternate Revenue Contribution on your tuition statement!
As an SCCS parent, you are required to choose one of these two above areas of opportunity. We would LOVE for you to choose both! Men and women are welcome in both areas!
Your willing work in these areas is greatly appreciated and truly helps SCCS treasure and train your children! This is the only required service we ask every family to give to SCCS - thank you for doing your part to make our school thrive!
CLICK HERE to choose your area and specify the times that work best for you…
Please complete this form by Friday, August 11.
WATCH for additional opportunities to volunteer!
You can sign up to help your child's classroom as a room parent, or help put away books in the library, or play piano for music classes. Links to sign up will be available soon (or you can sign up at registration).
We will also be looking for volunteers to help with the Trail'Raiser Trek next April. It's our only fundraising event (we’ve worked hard to eliminate all the little fundraisers that other schools do!) and offers supporters the opportunity to give, and bless God's kids through the Blazer Center campus expansion.
All of these volunteer opportunities will be communicated to you through Bloomz.

In this fanciful and charming reframing of the traditional story of the shoemaking elves, the central character is Gunter, an old shoemaker. War rages across Europe and, somewhere in the midst of that conflict, Gunter has lost his only son. Gunther has also lost his will to work and instead waits for the daily casualty lists, sharing with his friend, the tailor, a growing dread. The same war claims the mother of a precocious boy named Peter. Elves grant the wish of the dying mother that Peter will live and be protected and cared for. A soldier brings Peter to Gunther, who reluctantly takes him as an apprentice. The elves watch over Peter and magically make shoes to the delight of the boy and the consternation of Gunter. The magical events turn the entire town topsy-turvy and gradually soften the heart of Gunther, who finds in the boy the son he has lost.
Immunization/Physicals/Health Info
TK and Kindergarten students also have immunization records that should be brought to school along with the dental card and the vision card, and a physical is also recommended (a physical is not required).
Please note that a religious exemption is available for vaccinations. To learn more, check out https://iris.iowa.gov/docs/Certificate_of_Immunization_Exemption_Religious.pdf.
7th and 8th graders who plan to participate in athletics need to complete an athletic physical and a signed concussion form and turn it into Nurse Jenny or Mr. Groskreutz before they may practice or play. Athletes need a new physical and concussion form each year. The forms are attached below.
Storyline
STORYLINE: Our Storyline this year is Living God’s Story: Elements of a Growing Disciple. SCCS provides a storyline t-shirt that is worn for chapel, class trips, and the final Storyline Celebration. Please complete the form regarding sizes of your child(ren) as soon as possible (there will not be paper forms at registration this year). You have the option to order additional shirts for your students for $10 each.

IGNITE the Vision exciting news!
We're excited to share that we surpassed our June milestone of $7 million to IGNITE the Vision for God’s kids! The total amount given and committed to building the Blazer Center is $7,207,500. This is the most support SCCS has ever received during an 18-month period! We now have $1.8 million to go before we reach our next big milestone of $9 million, which allows us to break ground and start taking the plans on paper and transforming them to spaces that train and equip God’s kids.
As building costs continue to rise, we are seeking to steward the generous giving as well as the upcoming project with wisdom. To keep the most critical spaces in the project while maintaining the $14.7 million cost approved by the Board and SCCS Society, our hope is to bring this project to bid this fall so that construction can begin next spring.
We are committed to being a place that relentlessly pursues God’s Truth in all activities, in all teaching, and in all learning. Our educational program drives towards the knowledge, understanding, and habits students need to be effective disciples. Our spaces make this Christ-filled training possible!
THANK YOU for helping us reach this milestone through your personal gifts and commitments and through gifts made to the Trail'Raiser Trek. If you haven't yet given, we ask you to prayerfully consider how your giving commitment will help move this important piece of our vision forward and the significant impact you will make in the lives of God's treasured kids at Sioux Center Christian School!
