From the Principal's Desk
Hello Cougar Nation,
We are now in testing season and, our scholars will be required to demonstrate their learning through our state accountability system (STAAR). We need all hands on deck to support our scholars successful navigation of the STAAR assessments. We are asking that all faculty and staff members provide encouraging words, pats on the back, and positive interaction with our scholars to let them know we believe in them. Also, we must continue to maintain a safe and orderly environment in which learning can take place by doing the following:
- Protect Instructional Time by having a Do Now activity available immediately upon entering the classroom
- Tighten up on classroom routines and procedures - clearly state your expectations, then hold students to them.
- Hold tight to school-wide culture expectations -Be on time and in the middle of the hallways moving students to the right of the hallway
- Do not allow students out of class the 1st or last 10 minutes of class period.
- Only allow students out of class with an approved hallway pass.
- Continue with our hallway sweeps
- Take attendance the first 15 minutes of the class period
- All teachers are required to walk students to lunch and remain until the monitors take over
It takes ALL of us consistently providing the kind of structure and focus that our students need to thrive to prepare our students for college, career-ready jobs and the military.
