In-service Day Evaluation

Please take a moment today to complete the in-service evaluation document that Kelly Neylon shared with us via e-mail, yesterday. Many thanks to Michelle for helping to present valuable information about current demographics in Dupage County, and how we can be proactive with awareness and support of our under-resourced learners.

How to get the students talking!

During our first in-service of the school year, we learned through John Hattie's research that educators are still doing most of the talking in classrooms. (Even when those teachers who were consciously trying to release the learning responsibility to their students.)

This article from The Cornerstone blog (click on blue text for link) has listed clear ways that can help us all listen, guide and encourage our students to increase their engagement and learning.

Upcoming Things to Remember...

In the weeks of Sept. 29 and Oct. 6th, all classroom teachers will be participating in half-day Calkins' writing norming sessions. Because of the time devoted to this PD, we will not have PLCs until "A" week of Oct. 13-17.

Sept. 29th- Severe Weather Drill, 2:15 P.M. (walk-through practice)

7:30 P.M. BOE meeting with Kindergarteners leading the Pledge. :)
