What's today's ECVI Connection?
ECVI DAY AT THE RACES
Our Friendship Friday Group enjoyed a fun day on September 4th at the Educational Center. We held our own First Annual Derby Race and enjoyed eating Derby Pecan Pie. Huge Thank you to everyone who made this event possible. Volunteer Lucia Hill made the homemade pies that were super delicious. She made our day with horse race napkins. Board Member, Rosemary Buffington, painted our horses! Mr. Chevelier designed and cut the horses out of wood for us. Visually Impaired Student, Glen Chapman, drilled out and painted the numbers on the two dice we used to move the horses forward. His wife Mary Jane threw the dice. Visually Impaired Student, Donna Solon, donated prizes for the race winners. I started each race with a Call to the Post and then the race began. I guess I have talents that have been hidden because everyone commented on my commentary .
We all wore our Derby hats and cheered on our favorite horses such as Wildfire, Smella Vision, Inspiration, Marshmallow, and Arty Arthritus. Lots of laughter and fun. You will never guess what we have planned for December…..Reindeer Races!
Let me know if you would like to join the action the second Friday of each month normally.
Until Next Time, Peggy
More Friendship Friday Fun!
All of us enjoyed hearing Mike Kienzler play his ukulele. Thanks to our Leader, Cookie Kienzler for inviting Mike to share his talents. We enjoyed hearing about how he got started playing and then we all joined in with a sing along. We of course kept our masks on and used wipes as we handled the different instruments. Some of us joined by Zoom.
So email us at pdyson@edcentervi.org and let us know if you would like to participate in Friendship Fridays!
