Aubie the tiger

Aubie the tiger first appeared on the Auburn/Hardin-Simmons football program cover on October 3, 1959. The fans have always loved the energetic tiger that helps the crowd get rowdy at games.

Aubie has claimed seven national titles for himself and was inducted into the first class of collegiate mascots in the Mascot Hall of fame, no collegiate mascot has won as many UCA National Mascot Championships as Aubie has.

The war eagle

No one really knows the exact reason why Auburn uses "war eagle" as their slogan or fight song but the most popular story is this

The legend dates back to the first clash between Auburn and Georgia (still to this day one of the two main rivals of AU) in 1892 and focuses on a spectator, who was a veteran of the Civil War. In the stands with him that day was an eagle the former soldier had found on a battlefield during the war, he had kept it as a pet for almost 30 years. According to the legend, the eagle suddenly broke free and began majestically circling the playing field. As the eagle soared, Auburn began a steady march toward the Georgia end zone for a thrilling victory.

Image of AU

I feel as if the University of Auburn wants to show people that they are energetic with the use of orange; it has very high visibility, so you can use it to catch attention and blue to show knowledge, power, and integrity. Also, the tiger represents power, physical strength, vitality.
