End of Quarter 1

November 4 is the end of 1st Quarter & grades will be posted to ParentVUE by Nov. 9.

Parents can monitor student progress by using Canvas & ParentVUE.

Quarter grades are not final grades, but mark the halfway point to the end of Semester 1 (Jan. 27), when grades will be added to transcripts.

If you need help getting setup on Canvas or Synergy ParentVUE use these links or contact the main office (503-916-5220) for an activation code or password reset.

Virtual Family-Teacher Conferences

Nov. 22nd & 23rd


Conferences & time to connect with teachers will be virtual this year. This is a great opportunity to connect individually with your student's teachers, hear about all the great things they're learning, stay informed if there are any concerns & develop a plan for student success.


We will be using an online scheduling tool to help families select their times. More instructions will be coming soon.

Counselors Meeting w/ Juniors

Counselors will be presenting a lesson in Junior English classes Nov. 8th & 9th. We'll be presenting information on MaiaLearning, helping students connect their interests to possible careers & teaching them about their 6 post-high school options.

Counselors Meeting w/ Freshmen

Counselors will be presenting a workshop in CCE, AVID & Academic Skills between Nov. 17-19. We will be teaching a social-emotional lesson & connecting individually with students to review grades.

If you or someone you know is in need of food, clothing or holiday support, here is a list of resources. Connect with your student's school counselor for specific needs.

Virtual College & Military Visits

Students should login to Maialearning.com using their school google account.

Under the "university" tab, the scheduled visits can be found.


In November, there are 40 virtual college & military visits scheduled for students to access.


In-person visits @ McDaniel are:


  • Willamette University - Nov. 2
  • Pacific University - Nov. 3
  • Univ. of Portland - Nov. 4

Virtual College Panel - HBCU's, Hispanic Serving Institutions & Tribal Colleges

PCC is hosting virtual college tours for Historically Black Colleges & Universities, Hispanic Serving Institutions & Tribal Colleges. Students can join virtually & registration opens the week prior to the event.

Nov. 10, 2-4pm Northwest Indian College (TCU)

Nov. 17, 2-4pm Oklahoma Panhandle State Univ. (HSI)

Dec. 1, 2-4pm Prairie View A&M Univ. (HBCU)

Students can use the College & Career Center (227) if they need a space to join virtually.

Senior College Application Help

Seniors that needs help with MaiaLearning, the college application process, financial aid or recommendation letters can get help. Counselors will be available for drop-in support during Lunch & FLEX on the following days, in the College & Career Center (227).

FAFSA/ORSAA

We're making progress toward our goal of helping 80% of our Senior Class complete their necessary financial aid paperwork!


If your senior still needs to complete their FAFSA/ORSAA & needs help the next virtual help session is Nov. 10 from 6-8pm on Zoom.

Students can also schedule an appointment with their counselor for support.

  • Hear about programs, degrees & certificates
  • Spend time interacting with PCC faculty & staff

November is National Scholarship Month

Seniors should be searching for & applying to scholarships as much as possible.
  • Prioritize scholarships specific to the colleges they are applying to.
  • Create an account with Going Merry & apply for various scholarships with 1 application.
  • Get the OSAC scholarship application started, it opened Nov. 1. This is how students apply to the McDaniel specific scholarships available.

Ford Scholars

Oregon Seniors planning to attend a 2 or 4-year college in Oregon, this scholarship provides 90% of unmet need up to $40,000/year.

Students who demonstrate the following will be competitive:

  • Responsibility & strong work ethic
  • Commitment to education

Renaissance Scholarship

The Renaissance Scholarship application for this year is currently live online.


  • $4,000 renewable scholarship
  • high-achieving (3.0+ GPA)
  • low-income students
  • first in their family to earn a bachelor’s degree.
