Waggoner Road JH LEGENDS
FINAL 2017-18 UPDATE
Thank YOU!!
I want to thank you all for your support and encouragement in my first year as principal! Your smiles, kind words, notes, emails and gifts mean more to me than you will know. I did not take on the task of educating your student(s) lightly, and I am proud that you entrusted them to my care.
At Waggoner Road Junior High, it is our mission to create a learning environment that empowers our students to take ownership of their academic and personal growth. This year, I saw a lot of students doing just that -- taking ownership. More times this year than in my previous two, I had students that came to meet with me ( or Mrs. Clayton and Mr. Harland) about their grades/assignments. I saw them stay in from lunch/recess or meet after school with teachers for tutoring. I saw them working hard to make gains in iReady. I saw it in the pride that was taken in the projects that were posted around the building. Our students are true LEGENDS!!
As I look forward to the 2018-19 school year, I am excited about what will come. I know that there is always work to be done, and I am confident that, through a partnership with your families, we will do great things for our kids!!
Have a fantastic summer, and I will see you in August!!!

A2Z Cares Offer Vocation Training Programs for Our Youth
A2Z Cares is a company who provides a vocational training program for students with disabilities. They offer a 5 week summer program for students to gain vocational skills and work experience. The first week is spent on gaining soft skills (resume’, interviewing, grooming, etc) and the remaining 4 weeks is an actual PAID (minimum wage) 20hr/week job that includes a vocational coach. All levels of abilities and disabilities could be incorporated (A 2 Z) including behaviors, Autism, non-verbal, physical disabilities, and cognitive functioning. The goal is to help kids gain job skills and then connect with additional services with OOD (Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities) and BVR following the summer experience.
A work permit is required and transportation is not provided. An application is required to initiate this opportunity. However, a vocational specialist is available to help students and families complete the application if needed.
A brochure is attached, along with a list if current employers that work with A2Z.
