Friday Focus
Moreau Heights Elementary
October 12
Giving our students HOPE for a better tomorrow one skill at a time!
PBS lesson
Our PBS lesson will again focus on Kind Words. This is our second week with this focus. Please continue with your Second Steps lessons.
*Think about ways that your students could create a bulletin board to show your classes commitment to kindness.
Our Second Steps lessons all focus on EMPATHY.
All grade levels have a focus on Learning.
Kindergarten- More Feelings
1st grade - Looking for More Clues
2nd grade - Feeling Confident
3rd grade - Conflicting Feelings
4th grade - Conversation and Compliments
5th grade - Disagreeing Respectfully
How are your procedures and routines coming along?
Continuing our reflections on procedures and routines:
- How is it going?
- What is working? What is not working?
- How are you responding when things aren't working?
- Are you respectfully having students do things properly when they don't demonstrate what we expect?
- Are we on the look out for other areas that might need more specific instruction to help students meet the expectation?
- Are we recognizing and reinforcing when students demonstrate the expected behavior?
This is an ongoing process, always reflecting on what is working and what is not working. Always looking at what WE can do to support our students through clarified expectations, reteaching and practice.
Remember, the site below is a great one to hep guide reflection and planning!

How is Kagan going in your world?
We learned on Monday how to form heterogeneous teams within your classroom.
10 Reasons to Use Heterogeneous Teams, is a read worth checking out. Once you establish teams, be sure to include ClassBuilding and TeamBuilding activities in your weekly lesson plans. Remember to utilize all the resources we have- Kagan ebooks. Let me know what I can do to support you.
You all have Kagan placemats. Many teachers prefer to use placemats similar to the image above. The image below allows you to cut them apart and tape on individual student desks.
Kagan happenings at Moreau Heights
Mrs. Ogden’s class showed me they are Math Rockstars. They are learning the structure Rally Coach to support their learning and increase engagement. It was fun to watch Mrs. Ogden “drink her Mountain Dew” (quote from Garrett) as she circulated the room observing/supporting students. Thanks for the invite!
