Kindergarten/First Grade Registration - NOW OPEN

Do you have a child who will be 5 years old on or before August 31, 2016? If so, Central Registration is open for families who need to enroll their children for next school year. Please click HERE for information on how to register your child for kindergarten. If you know of any neighbors or friends who have students who will be age 5 on or before August 31, 2016, please remind them to register their child.

The sooner the students are registered, the more effective we can be with enrollment projections and number of sections for next year. It could be the difference between two- or three-sections for a grade level!

Microsoft Office 365 free for CB Students in Grades 5-12

Central Bucks School District has partnered with Microsoft to offer Microsoft Office 365 to students in Grades 5-12. Office 365's productivity suite enables students and teachers to share documents, access Microsoft software applications online and work collaboratively. As the district increases both teacher and student access to educational technology, we wanted to remind you of this great opportunity.

Microsoft Office is available free for students in grades 5-12. Students may want to take the opportunity to install the full Office applications on up to 5 PCs, Macs or tablets for free. This includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote. Students can learn more about the process here: http://www.cbsd.org/365

Once downloaded, students can work with classmates online and see each other's changes in real time with Office Online, the full version of Office or OneDrive.

School Happenings

Authors, Betsy & Ted Lewin Visit Buckingham

On Wednesday, December 16, 2015, Buckingham 4th, 5th, and 6th graders were visited by Caldecott Honor award winning authors & illustrators, Betsy and Ted Lewin. The Lewins shared excerpts from their book, How To Babysit A Leopard And Other True Stories From Our Travels Across Six Continents. Their stories and adventures were quite interesting. The students also enjoyed seeing the pictures of many animals they have come across on their travels. Betsy then modeled how to draw a lion and a gorilla, which made for a fun way to end their visit with us.

Quest - Engineer Building Creations

Buckingham’s Engineers were very hard at work during the week of January 4th through the 8th. Throughout the year the students have been earning time towards a free build day. This week was their trade in for that incentive. The students used their engineering skills to create projects that reflected their own interests and personal style. Their effort, creativity and collaboration skills were impressive. Examples of student projects included planes, interactive games, mini soccer fields and hockey rinks, houses, and catapults. Congratulations engineers on a job well done.

Buckingham Families: Student projects are posted on my teacher website. Make sure to check out what the students have completed (more will be added over the next few weeks.) And remember to check-out the Monthly Home Engineers QUEST Project on the site, too!

From the Music Room

Over 50 5th talente3d 5th and 6th graders have started rehearsals for Buckingham’s Spring Musical: “Schoolhouse Rock LIVE! Jr.” which will be performed at the end of April.

6th graders are finishing their study of the decades in American music, and 5th graders are starting to study the Great Composers

4th grade students have earned the first several song “belts” in Recorder Karate and are progressing each week.

3rd grade students will soon be starting to play the bells and boomwhackers in Music class.

1st and 2nd grades are looking forward to their time in the spotlight when they perform Spring Concerts later in the year.
