Our First Week in Ordinary Time
Happy 2024! We've made it through the first half of our school year, and are looking forward to (finally) starting the second semester tomorrow! This week is the beginning of Ordinary Time, which I always thought was an interesting term to use for it. During this time, scripture readings are focused on the teachings and ministry of Jesus for 4-8 weeks after Christmas Time, and then again for about 6 months after Easter Time. When reflecting upon this season, I thought about the name and placement of the longer times between these two major celebrations being titled in such a way. It reminded me to focus on how extraordinary (synonyms: exceptional, amazing, remarkable, unusual) life can be in the ordinary "season" we all face each day. In order to be amazing and have remarkable experiences we typically have to seek Him, be Christ, contemplate the Word, and ask the Holy Spirit about all the extraordinary work God is doing, has done and desires to do in each of our lives in very simple and ordinary ways (and times). What areas of your life do you need to commit to the Lord this month? Praying we will all strive to pursue the will of the Lord as he continues to do extraordinary work in our lives!
"Seek the LORD while he may be found, call upon him while he is near. Let them turn to the LORD to find mercy; to our God, who is generous in forgiving." Isaiah 55:6-7
Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow!
