PICKING UP YOUR STUDENT EARLY?

Please send a note with your student to be turned into the Welcome Desk before school. In return, your student will receive a pass to meet you at the welcome desk according to the time requested.

Thank you for your assistance. This helps cut down on

classroom disturbance and interruptions.

As a reminder, phone calls/emails are not accepted for the release of students to leave early. Thank you for your understanding.

SJHS Talent Show

The St. James High School Talent Show is scheduled for this Tuesday, January 31st. We look forward to seeing our students' amazing talent on display.

Information from Class Meetings

As we begin 2nd Semester, there are a few areas in which I believe we can improve. I reminded students of our goal to remain in class as much as possible and to have a pass when not in class. I also reviewed the dress code with students, specifically hats and midriffs, which we have seen a rise in. Finally, I stressed the importance of everyone taking ownership in maintaining a safe and clean school. We must all do our part to help. Students were encouraged to talk to a staff member if they see things that make them feel uncomfortable.

Information from Guidance

The second semester is off to a great start. Please stay on top of your attendance and grades from the beginning. Make sure to contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions.

What are your plans for after high school? What classes do you want to take next school year?

Underclassmen IGP conferences are taking place now with counselors. In these meetings we will talk about our academic plans for the next school year and plans for after high school. We will be offering these in person, Google meets, or phone calls. Please contact your counselor to get a meeting scheduled. We look forward to working with you during these conferences.

Technical Scholars Welding Program for Juniors

The Technical Scholars Welding Program is for high school seniors who are on track to graduate and meet requirements within the parameters of the program ( 2 high school courses allowed each semester) and admissions requirements for HGTC. The program will give students the opportunity to earn high school credit and college credit within the welding discipline.

12 semester hours in the fall and spring

HCS will cover the tuition for those two semesters

*students who wish to continue with the program and receive Advanced Welding Technologies Certificate from HGTC will finish 10 semester hours during summer session (will not count as high credit and HCS does not cover tuition)

If they are interested in this program, please email Mrs. Tubbs etubbs@horryconutyschools.net in Guidance for more information about the program.

Emergency Protocol

If the school is conducting a drill, is placed "on hold", or there is an emergency of any kind, our staff, along with students, must follow protocol, including our receptionist. Phones are placed on hold and staff must cover along with students. The front doors are locked with no entry during these times. Students are in their respective safe zones, with the halls clear. Unfortunately, we cannot release students during an emergency or a drill. Once the emergency is over and students are safe, parents will be contacted by a phone call and email with information from our administration.

Thank you for your understanding. Should you have questions or comments, please contact one of our administrators.

Spring Sports

Students wanting to play a spring sport must have an updated physical on file and approved by our Sports Trainer. See a coach or checkout SJH website for details.
