Week of December 6
We have only a couple weeks of school before Winter Break, but we look forward to a number of special events and programming:
- Choir Concert: this Tuesday our Attea choirs perform. The concert begins at 7pm.
- Spirit Week: Attea's Student Council is sponsoring a holiday spirit week. The picture below shows the themed days
- Goal-setting check-ins and some holiday fun: We are planning on special schedules for Thursday and Friday, December 16 and 17. SEL teachers will be touching base with students on their goals; students will get to hear their peers in Band, Orchestra, and Choir perform, and students will do some fun holiday decorating/crafting.
We'll look to bring 2021 to a productive and fun finish.

MAP Skill Profile - Reading Literature: Key Ideas, Reading for Understanding
Winter MAP tests are scheduled for January, and we want students to remain focused on pursuing skill-based goals. We also want parents to have information about the specific skills and proficiencies that students are acquiring and mastering. The last MAP skill profile focused on Informational Text. This week's focus is on Literature, although parents will notice that the same set of skills - reading for key ideas and reading for understanding - apply to both kinds of text.
NWEA (the people behind MAP tests) define Reading Literature: Key Ideas, Reading for Understanding: "Students can read and comprehend literary texts, make inferences and predictions, and draw conclusions. They can determine key ideas, analyze the development of themes, and summarize.." The link below shows examples of skills and the score ranges related to the questions students might be asked.
