Discovery Day 6/4
Discovery Day is a fun day when our students sign up for classes of interest and guide their own instruction! You can help by sharing any interest or talent you may have: drawing, painting, football, kickball, yard games, pilates, bracelet making, science experiments, STEM activities, etc.
Watch for a sign-up sheet in your child’s daily folder and return to school ASAP
We would love your help!
Literacy
In Writer's Workshop we are working independently when choosing a topic, creating a picture, and writing a story. Students can choose any topic (narrative, informational, or opinion). This week we spent time reviewing and making a list of topics we could write about. Help your child brainstorm some ideas at home as well!
By now in Writer's Workshop our goal is to write 3 sentences, include a capital letter at the beginning, and punctuation at the end.
Math
Butterflies
We began the week with reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. Following a fiction book on butterflies, we read many non-fiction books about butterflies and their life cycle. We wrote about and sorted the steps in a butterfly's life.
Fine Arts Night 4/25
4:30-5:45pm: K-5 Art Show in the Media Center
6:00-7:00pm Band, Orchestra, and Choir Concert
7:00pm Full Band, Orchestra, and Choir Picture
Spring Weather
How crazy! A snow day in April?!
We all know how unpredictable Minnesota weather can be! Please remember to still send warm clothes (boots, jackets, gloves, and hats) for your child to wear for Recess. Although it may be warming up...it is still quite wet.. and now snowy!!
Star of the Week
When your child is Star of the Week, I will send home a poster the week before for them to complete. They can draw pictures or use real pictures. Please have them return the poster the following Monday for sharing. For that week they will be line leader and calendar helper. On Friday of that week they can bring in *one show and tell item to share with the class.
Supplies in Need
Crayons (24 crayon packs) *only need a few more packs for each student to get some new crayons.
Thanks again for those of you that have donated some already! It is greatly appreciated!
Birthdays
At Crestview Elementary School we take time during morning announcements to highlight students who are celebrating their birthdays. This includes announcing their names and grade levels over the school wide intercom system. If for any reason you do not want your child’s name and birthday announced, please reach out to Janet Ellis, Office Coordinator, in our front office and she will make note of the request.
A reminder that due to life threatening allergies students should not be bringing birthday treats to school this year.
