Veterans of Valor Ceremony

On Friday, May 27, 2016, Ripley Central School students in grades 2 - 5 gathered with RCS faculty, local veterans and townspeople for a special Veterans of Valor Ceremony. Unveiled were two signs that will become a permanent part of the memorial located in the front of the school. The first sign lists members of the military who have received a medal of valor. The second sign list the names of 16 servicemen killed in action from World War I through the Vietnam War. Several of our students spoke at the ceremony, describing the Medal of Honor, the Distinguished Service Cross, the Distinguished Service Medal, the Silver Star Medal, the Legion of Merit, the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Bronze Star, the Air Medal and the Purple Heart. Our school chorus sang the National Anthem, and Robert McIntosh, who spearheaded to have these signs created and installed, lead those assembled in the Pledge of Allegiance. This moving ceremony ended with shouts of thanks from the students to all the veterans in attendance.

  • Nurture our physical, emotional and spiritual health
  • Lead with an open heart and assume positive intent
  • Stand up for ourselves and others"

Erie SeaWolves

What a wonderful day ~ opening the game with the singing of our National Anthem and hearing the words "Play Ball" at Jerry Uht Park in Erie, PA! Our third through sixth grade classes did just that on Thursday, June 2nd. Under the direction of Mrs. Mealer, our chorus sang for the crowd and then all students enjoyed the sunny day as the SeaWolves won the game in the final inning! Thanks to our school for sending us to Education Days at the Uht and to those who chaperoned - Mr. Akin, Mr. Beardsley, Mrs. Hartman, Ms. Humbert, Mrs. Kondrick, Mrs. Miller, Ms. Riley, Mrs. Sabella, & Mrs. Waters.
