Indian Reorganization Act
Why You Should Pass It
We've Been Awful to the Natives
Ever since we arrived, we've been pretty awful to the Indians. After all the scalping, land-grabbing, forced assimilating, and disease-spreading, our faithful tribes still supported us during WWI. They were (and still aren't) citizens, and couldn’t be drafted, yet they volunteered as warriors in the army.
The Indian Reorganization Act will help right some of our wrongs. Most importantly, tribal unity and customs will be preserved as self-government is given to the reservations. The state of reservations right now is deplorable, so the act also calls for funds to be allocated to them to help with education, land management, and organization. Finally, extra land will be favored to be given back to them (because it was theirs in the first place.)Our crimes against the Indians.
The reservations.
