Parent Advisory Meeting

The MWISD GT Parent Advisory Committee met on November 10. The group discussion included work on growth mindset, resources for parents, and looking at the Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted and Talented Students. The group will meet in January and April to work within the framework to help our GT program progress toward an exemplary model.

Compliance, Recommended, or Exemplary?

Reference the Texas State Plan on the TEA webpage to look at assessment instruments for Student Assessment, Service Design, Curriculum and Instruction, Professional Development, and Family and Community Involvement. How can we work as a team to move our program from Compliance to Exemplary using these standards?

GT Teacher Toolkit

The Gifted/Talented Teacher Toolkit II, is an online resource for educators teaching G/T, AP, and Pre-AP classes. Use this resource to evaluate curricula to determine where to differentiate course materials in order to add the depth and complexity.

Spring Nomination Window

Any student grades 1-12 may be nominated for GT testing during this assessment window. Think about how we need to work to get this information out to parents and teachers to help identify characteristics of a gifted and talented learner.
