What Is Our Every Day Water Usage?

You come home from work and you're tired. You're just about to go to bed when you see piles of dishes in your sink. You stick them in your dishwasher and you're about to turn it on. Stop! Washing the dishes by hand only uses about 4 gallons of water, whereas a dishwasher uses 20 gallons of water per load! Moreover, washing the dishes takes more time but it's worth it, you're saving water. Many people take a long shower just to relax but what they don't know is that they can use 2-2.5 gallons per minute! Also if you ever take a bath a full tub is 36 gallons! Why waste all this water and money just to relax for 10 minutes? When you wash clothes put the maximum amount in unless you need to do it quick. The average american uses around 80-100 gallons of water a day!

Where Do We Get Our Water?

We get our water from lakes and freshwater streams. But we have to limit the amount of water we use. After all, there is only 2.5% of freshwater on Earth. 97.5% of Earth's water is saltwater, which is not healthy for us to drink. "Water hogs", or people who use too much water, will bring us to a drought, which might lead to the death of many people.
