There have been a number of troubling ‘police shootings’ in the U.S. in the recent past. How does understanding the concept of implicit biases connect with the topic of the Black Lives Matter movement.
Describe the process of taking an IAT. How does the test reveal implicit biases through the test?
Adults IAT experience
I told my dad about this project and informed him about what I had learned about implicit biases, although he already knew most of this, and had him take the racial IAT, above are his results. I asked my dad how he felt about his results, because typically they would be slightly looked down upon, but he said they are pretty much correct. He said that when he was taking the test he kind of already had an idea in his mind that he would get an answer pretty similar to this, with just a slight implicit bias in this situation. He seemed a little disappointed just because it is sad that almost everyone has this slight stereotype, but not overly so. These are the same results that I got and that didn't surprise me at all because he raised me and most of my thoughts and beliefs are that way because of him teaching me that. He thoroughly enjoyed taking the test mainly because he likes to know what I am learning about, but also because it helped him learn a new thing about himself that he didn't already for sure know.
