Vision
Academic Excellence and Success
From Mr. R's Desk
Bobcat Nation,
It has been a great week but it is imperative that we stay positive the entire year. Let’s make 2018-2019 the best school year ever. From academics to extracurricular activities...let’s strive for exemplary. We have definitely set the tone and we are a force to be reckon with.
Kudos to our Athletic Director, Rocky James and his entire staff for our Meet the Bobcats event. It was a huge success.
Professional Reminders
- We are governed by tax-payers and entrusted by parents. We cannot misuse, misappropriate, or mishandle instructional time, property, funds, and/or students.
- Follow the chain of command. Give your department chairs and your administration an opportunity to address issues. Main office should be a last resort.
- We need everyone arriving on time.
- We need everyone attending to their duty stations.
- Instruction should be everyone’s priority. We need to raise our STAAR EOC scores.
- Every child does count…for enrollment and for scores.
- We need lesson plans, grades, and attendance submitted on time.
- We are a team and we cannot afford to bring each other down.
- Adhere to FERPA guidelines. Do not breach confidentiality.
- Always follow District policy and teacher standards/ethics.
- Create positive/safe/engaging/learning environments.
- Model our expectations. We will be more effective in addressing students when we ourselves are complying with our dress code and other District policies.

Classroom Management Tips
- Poor planning can create unwanted problems.
- Teacher must observe, supervise, & monitor all students.
- Some type of seating arrangement should be in place.
- Expectations should be clearly communicated to avoid confusion.
- Classroom rules should be posted.
- Have procedures in place: restroom passes, tardy logs, how students are to respond to teacher, pencil sharpener, textbooks, fire drills, testing procedures, group work, classroom dismissal, lectures, videos/presentations, etc.
- Redirect off-task behavior immediately. Do not let it escalate.
- Establish verbal/non-verbal cues.
- Never embarrass students.
- Promote positive behavior.
- The 1st few days are the most important ones.
- Never get into a power struggle with students.
- It’s not what you teach but how you teach it.
- Make lessons relevant.
- Not every student will like you. Don't take it personal.
- Be firm, fair, and consistent… every day for the entire school year.
- Make positive phone calls.
- Involve parents to assist you with unwanted behaviors.
