All Dreamers Are Welcome Here!
August 24, 2020
Dear Alamo Families,
Thank you so much for supporting our school through the Education Fund. Our music, art, and technology lessons and para-educators for the classrooms benefit all students because of your generous donation.
Teachers continue to assess your children to provide real-time student performance data needed to direct lessons effectively. We have two district-wide assessments this year: Educational Software for Guiding Instruction (ESGI) and FastBridge. They are pre-assessments, one of the multiple measures teachers employ to evaluate students' strengths, weaknesses, knowledge, and skills to inform instruction.
ESGI is administered to all kindergarten students, one-on-one, to assess beginning foundational skills. FastBridge is for grades 1st-5th. Its Math and English Language Arts (ELA) tests are administered as a blend of one-on-one and whole-class online for primary grades and whole-class online for upper grades. Please do not assist your child during the assessment. It's essential to produce scores that closely reflect your child's current skills to ensure proper small group placement and curriculum intervention. Please encourage your child to do their best. These tests are administered three times in the school year to monitor student progress: fall, winter, and spring.
YMCA on campus is opening soon! Please see the information below.
Stay safe and healthy, Alamo Mustangs! Wear your face covering and practice social distancing when required.
Warm regards,
Mrs. Salazar

The Run for Education September 12 - October 11
What is a Virtual Run?
A virtual run is a race where you can run, jog, walk or roll for the distance of your choosing. Whether on the road, trail, treadmill, or track, you pick the finish line. Complete a virtual 1K (Friendship or Mini Run), 5K, 10K, or create one of your own. Should you choose to time yourself, you can upload the results and even print a certificate of completion!
Why a Virtual Run?
Revenue sharing! In an effort to help schools fill-in the budget shortfalls we are all faced with this year, the Run for Education will share revenue with schools in two ways:
● Registration fees ($25): schools earn 40% of the net registration fees from every participant that chooses your school
● Fundraising pages: automatically created for every registrant, the school receives 70% of the funds raised!
How can you help? REGISTER NOW!
We are excited about the possibilities this new format offers to the schools and the Foundation. The ability to promote a healthy, family activity while still observing proper physical distancing is a fantastic opportunity for all of us.

California State PTA supports Proposition 15, the California Schools and Local Communities Funding Act.
WE NEED YOUR HELP TO GET THIS INITIATIVE PASSED. VOTE YES ON 15!
MORE MONEY FOR SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITIES
Proposition 15 will raise up to $12 billion in most years, depending on the strength of real estate markets. This money would be allocated to schools (40%) and other local governments (60%).
This initiative will change how commercial and industrial property is taxed and will increase funding for K-12 public schools, community colleges and local governments by requiring that commercial and industrial real property be taxed based on current market value.
It protects all homeowners and renters by maintaining tax protections for ALL residential property.
