YEARBOOK COVER CONTEST!
Students will have a chance to help us create the cover of this year’s Galatas yearbook!
The theme this year will be "Aviation"! The sky's the limit for design options!
Guidelines:
• Entries should be original student artwork, and may be done with marker, pastels, paint, watercolors, etc…
• Maximum size should be 8.5”X11” and must be a portrait (vertical) layout.
• Artwork should feature a Greyhound!
• No need to include our school name or the year...those will be printed on the yearbook by the publisher.
• All submissions must be received by Wednesday, November 18.
Initial submissions will be collected electronically this year - we will select one winner from each grade to be featured on the inside, as well as an overall design winner for the cover. We will then make arrangements to collect the original artwork from the selected students.
Please email a photo of your students' artwork to galatasyearbook@gmail.com, and include their name and section number in the email (images will be judged anonymously by grade level).
Buy Your Yearbook NOW!
Visit https://www.balfour.com to order you yearbook today!
Early bird price of $30 until November 20 and then $35 until the end of the year.
Parents of 4th graders can also recognize their Top Dog with a Top Dog ad in the yearbook. Ads are $20 and can be created at the Balfour site.
We want to make sure all students are represented - both those learning virtually and those on campus, and would love to have your image submissions!
With Balfour’s ImageShare app, anyone in our school community can share photos of school events and friends right from their mobile device.
It’s so easy! Students or parents simply download the iOS or Android app, create an account and enter our yearbook’s information (Project #122105) , and you’re ready to go. Photos can be selected from an existing gallery or taken using the app itself. You can also visit images.balfour.com to upload!
Images are delivered directly to our yearbook staff with contributor info, photo identifications and captions. It’s the perfect solution to get our entire school community involved!
Please e-mail Jessica Buono at galatasyearbook@gmail.com with any questions.
Reminder: No Deliveries of Forgotten Items at This Time
As the weather gets cooler, please be sure to check the forecast before coming to school to determine whether your student might need a jacket or coat during the day. Also, be sure to label all coats, jackets, and sweatshirts so we can get them back to the student if they are lost.
-Eye glasses are the exception. If a student forgets their glasses, please label them with the child's name and section number. When arriving on campus with the glasses, please use the call button to the right of the front center doors, and someone will assist you.
-If a student forgets their lunch, they can purchase or charge a lunch from the cafeteria.
-If a student forgets their water bottle, each grade level has bottles of water for students. Please email the teacher, and they will get your child a bottle of water.
-For forgotten homework or other class work, please contact the teacher and make arrangements for the student to turn it in the next school day.
**Please label your student's personal water bottles! If a bottle is left somewhere in the school, and it has the student's name on it, it can easily be returned to the student.
Health Information
A Message from the School Nurse
If your student will need to take medications during school hours, please complete the medication permission form below, and submit either via email or in person when dropping off the medications. Please note many of the over the counter medications will require a physician signature this year. Due to social distancing, medication drop-off will be by appointment only and the school nurse will meet you on the front porch to check in medications. Please email the school nurse at kriggs@conroeisd.net to schedule the appointment. Thank you!
Take care,

Important Car Rider Information
We are asking for your help with the following procedures that will keep our car line moving, and keep everyone safe:
- Please do not arrive earlier than 3:00 p.m. to line up for the car rider line. Our dismissal begins promptly at 3:10 p.m., and runs smoothly with all cars processed through the car line by approximately 3:25. Arriving closer to our dismissal time will help with the flow of traffic on Cochran's Crossing Drive.
- Do not make U-turns on Cochran's Crossing Drive or in the adjacent neighborhoods. It is not safe for pedestrians or other drivers.
- Do not obstruct the sight line for drivers exiting their neighborhoods. The police have placed cones on both sides of the entrance to Hayden's Run and Wyndspire to protect the sight line. Use caution and check traffic in all directions when driving in this area.
- Be courteous and patient
- Day care and students requiring extra time to load cars will be processed first in the car-line. These individuals and companies have received specific directions from the school.
- If your child needs assistance buckling their seat belt, please pull forward and to the side after loading before assisting your child.
- Use of cell phones is prohibited in a school zone and subject to a $200 fine.
Your assistance with this request is greatly appreciated. We want to keep everyone happy, healthy, and safe!
