The aging disease

Philip Petty

The reason I chose this topic is because my grandfather has the early stages of alzheimers. Im hoping the research will help me learn how to help him cope with it. It would also help our whole family to know little more about this aging disease.
It is a disease that attacks the brain. It typically starts slowly and gets way worse over a period of time. The most common first noticed symptom is difficulty remembering recent events. It starts with recent memories and then starts getting progressively worse to long term memories. Until the person with the disease doesn't remember their own family. There are no treatments that help or cure this disease the end cause is death.
This disease is mostly connected to the loss of the neurons and synapses in the cerebral cortex. It also includes losses in the temporal lobe and parital lobe and parts of the frontal cortex and Cingulate gyrus. If there are other theories that address this topic I could not find them.
Alzheimers is seen in over 50% of old people these days. It is just such an awful disease it sucks to see love ones go through it. But some scientists are trying to find a cure so threes hope!!!!
