Important Message to RPS Families

August 5, 2021

Dear Ram Family,

I hope this note finds you well and enjoying the last few days of summer. Next week is the start of the 2021-2022 school year. We can't wait to have all the students back in our buildings.

My message to you today provides some insight into the District's operations and management of our educational environments for the upcoming fall semester. Thank you for the incredible teamwork, care, determination, and resolve put forth in helping us successfully navigate through the previous school year.

To start the 2021-2022 school year, local health officials have recommended to RPS that unvaccinated students and staff wear a mask while at school. As a result, Ralston Public Schools (RPS) will require students and staff in pre-kindergarten through sixth grade to wear a mask during the school day.

RPS is strongly recommending students and staff in grades seven through twelve wear a mask during the school day if they are not fully vaccinated.

Our District Administrators will review the health and safety protocols on September 16th to determine the next steps in the continued management of COVID-19 within our learning environments. As we transition throughout the school year, the District will continue to monitor the health status of our community, work closely with the Douglas County Health Department.

If circumstances were to change, the District can and will make adjustments to provide a safe and healthy learning environment. You can review the attached "Plan for Safe Return to In-Person Instruction" summary and plan accordingly to keep yourself and those around you safe while at school or school activities. The full version is available on the District website.

Parents and Guardians, we are aware this is a challenging situation. We thank all of you in advance for your cooperation and appreciate your partnership in adhering to our health and safety protocols. Our goal continues to be to keep students and staff healthy and safe while attending school in person, where the most powerful learning takes place.
