FJVD Weekly Info...

We Live the Word!

From the Principal's Desk

Dear FJVD Families,

I have become particularly fond of my morning commute. Twenty five to thirty minutes of driving on slowly winding, wooded roads puts my mind at ease and prepares me well for the day ahead. Towards the end of my drive, turning on to Route 117, there is an old bridge adorned with a sign welcoming drivers to Coventry. Underneath is a short message:

"Coventry: It grows with you."

I enjoy the humility of this slogan. It makes no claims to past fame (though Coventry may have many!), nor does it make grandiose promises for the future. Instead, the slogan suggests that our greatest achievements come simply when we are focused on growing together.

It is an idea that is particularly applicable to Catholic education. Catholic schools are inherently places of growth - not just academically, but also spiritually and socially. Looking to the year ahead, may we remain steadfast in our commitment to working and growing together, for it is then that we reach our fullest potential.

Go Saints!
