Hello Merryman Families,
As we move into the second month of school we continue to assess students, set their academic and behavior goals for the year, and focus on their individual needs. In early October students will do the Fountas and Pinnell reading assessment, STAR universal screener for Literacy and Math, and a Literacy screening (PALS) at grades one and two. Students will get these academic results immediately, and begin setting goals to work on for the next couple of months. We review the data frequently and encourage you to talk with your child and teachers to know and understand their developmental growth.
Our PTO is hosting the annual Pumpkin and Pancake Walk n Roll on Saturday, October 14th from 8:00-11:00. We hope to see you all at school for the family fun. On Wednesday, October 18th our first and second grade students will be heading over to UW-Marinette to see Seussical Jr. courtesy of the PTO.
Thank you for dropping your child off at school by 7:55am. Remember that breakfast starts at 7:40am. Students who eat breakfast can come into school at that time. Students being dropped off after 7:55am must enter at the front doors. School starts at 8:00am daily and ends at 3:00pm.
Coming up on Wednesday, October 4 is the National Walk to School Day. Please check out the information in the newsletter! We will be walking from Peter Piper, Twin City Baptist Church, and from the corner of 6th and Carney.
We are still looking for adult volunteers! Please fill out an online application today and make a difference in the life of a child. Your support is appreciated!

Please join children and adults around the world in celebrating International Walk to School Day on Wednesday, October 4, 2017. International Walk to School Day is an annual event that involves communities from more than 40 countries walking to school on the same day. It promotes walking for several reasons:
Physical activity
Teaching safe pedestrian skills to children
Awareness of how walkable a community is
Concern for the environment
Reducing traffic congestion, pollution, and speed near schools
Sharing time with community leaders, parents and children
A special Walk to School Day event is being planned at your child’s school. Community partners will be around the school to make sure kids have a fun and safe walk to school. .
Children are encouraged to walk to school on October 4th and parents/guardians are also welcome to walk along. If your child is not old enough to walk to school on their own and if you are unable to walk to school with your child, please read below how your child can participate as a group with us!
